We will be in Grantown for three nights next June. One in our party would like to take a half day fishing guided trip. He knows to contact the “fish store” (sorry i don’t know what it’s called) but I thought I’d ask if anyone had any personal experience or recommendations. Thank you.

I've never heard that definition. A ghillie is a gamekeeper. That's who you need to avoid if you're poaching salmon (don't do that).

I'd call it a "tackle shop". He's probably right. Mortimer's is the shop in Grantown. They sell permits for beats on The Spey.

Pardon my confusion but I believe when he was referring to ghillie he was going off this definition “a ghillie (also spelled gillie) is defined chiefly in Scotland and Ireland as "a fishing and hunting guide."…Acts as the resident expert and owner's representative on a specific river section or fishing beat. Directs fishers to the best pools, organizes the day, and shares local knowledge of water and weather conditions.”
I have seen the previous post and yes he knows to call the tackle shop (sorry) when we get closer to the date, I was wanting to see if anyone had experience with a guide in Grantown.
