Travelling to Edinburgh in July 2022 and returning to US in July. US requires covid testing prior to departure from Scotland. If anyone has recent experience getting a covid test in Edinburgh, would appreciate if you would share that experience (location too, please).
Hopefully, testing won’t be needed come July. But, if it is still required, you might want to look into taking some of the self-tests (with the telehealth) as those are most convenient. You can purchase those from emed and optum. Here’s a recent discussion on the self-tests:
Thank you so much.
Are there any places to do Covid testing in Edinburgh rather than trying a do it yourself. I was told that Boots pharmacy does it but when I contacted them directly they said no. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Follow….us to leaving Edinburgh in. July. Incase it still needs to be done.
Thanks for any info

another option is to ask at your hotel.
If you cannot find one in town, there is an ExpressTest test center at the airport. An antigen fit-to-fly test is £35.
Site Address: EDI Staff Car Park (next to Signature Flight Support), Edinburgh, EH12 9DN
Coordinates:55.94482024711792, -3.3513118467031955
NOTE: If using automotive navigation systems such as satnav or Google/Apple maps, please use the coordinates to direct you to the test centre, as the postcode will not direct you to the correct location.
Location information: Take the airport exit off A8 and continue straight onto Eastfield Road, then turn right at the at the roundabout at the Moxy, Hampton and Doubletree hotels. Travel along Eastfield Avenue, across the tram tracks and turn right at the next roundabout. Follow the signs to the test centre.
I'm interested in the testing site at the Edinburgh Airport (as described by a previous post) but understand the site is "drive-through". I would arrive via taxi and am not sure how or even if that would work. Does anyone have experience using the testing site at the Edinburgh Airport?
We just got back on Sunday.
Same day testing was available at Lloyd’s pharmacy. We made appointment online.
They give you a printout and an email. We tried unsuccessfully to use VeriFly so we could not check in online.
It was pretty quick to check in at the airport.
Newington Pharmacy offers antigen testing too. It seems to be in a good location.
46-50 Clerk St, Newington, Edinburgh EH8 9JB.
There’s also a Randox Edinburgh City Travel Testing Centre at 10 Frederick St, Edinburgh EH2 2HB near Princess Street. It’s right downtown.
Thank you all.
Very helpful.
