I am visiting my grandson who is the Consulate for the State Dept. of US. While there, I would like to go to the Azores for 3-4 days, but I am completely in the dark about the best way to go about it. Any ideas would be appreciated. I will be going single as he is working, realize I need a car, and prefer B&B. Have traveled extensively throughout Europe for several years this way. Much thanks to Rick Steves.
Raeda.wallentine,
You may want to read this post by Carl who is very knowledgeable about the Azores Islands since he and his family have visited them
several times: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/portugal/2017-update-to-my-2-cents-visiting-the-azores
Enjoy!
raeda.wallentine, I just sent you a private message with the link to my guide.
Since I wrote the mentioned post (thank you Priscilla), the guide is now 88 pages! I wrote it because there is a great interest on this forum for Azores advice. I continually get multiple requests every week for the guide, and I respond to EVERY request with the link to access it. The link is to a google doc because the size of the file has become too large to email.
My email is [email protected] if anyone else would like the link to the guide. Please type in the subject line: Azores
Carl,
Have you considered writing a book? ;-)
Thank you Priscilla for asking. I have received great positive feedback from forum readers and asked by quite a few about actually publishing my guide. For now, I enjoy sharing what I know about the Azores here on this forum without writing it as a book. Once I finally visit all 9 islands, there may be enough content. I am still hoping (fingers crossed) that the Azores islands and Madeira eventually become included in the RS Portugal book.
