Second Guessing How Long To Stay

We have an 11 week trip in the Fall and in the later half of the trip we will be spending 15 nights in Portugal. We will fly from Bordeaux to Porto and end in Lisbon, when we will fly to Manchester. Because the trip is long we don’t want to move around too much, but we don’t want to stay in a place longer than necessary either. I earmarked 6 nights in Porto, 2 nights in Coimbra and 7 nights in Lisbon. We would be doing day trips from Porto and Lisbon. Is that too much time for Porto and Lisbon? If we took any time from them where would be a good place to add those nights. We will be there in late October and early November, so going somewhere beachy like the Algarve doesn’t really make sense.

I welcome any suggestions. Thanks!

Definitely not for Lisbon. We spent 6 nights there October 2024. We spent one day in Sintra and one day in Belem. We could have done a second day in Belem cause we did not go into the Coach Museum, the Presidential home, the monument to Discoveries, or Belem Tower.

We only took one walking tour with Lisbon Walks, Lisbon, City of Spies but did take a pastel de natal cooking class with Cooking Lisbon.

We only Spent 3 nights in Porto and liked it better than we thought we would.

Carrie, thanks for linking your great trip report. It has a lot of great information and I’ve bookmarked it.

Barbara, it’s good to know that 7 nights isn’t too long considering we are going to do day trips. Thanks,

Thanks Allan, I’ve bookmarked your TR. Your experience of traveling with your friends who have very different travel styles is exactly why we have chosen not to do that again. We agreed that we would be fine to meet up with whoever for a few days or so, but that’s it. We were with our friends for 5.5 weeks. That’s definitely too long!
