Plug adaptors

Thank you for your comments on my recent two Portugal questions. Another: What type of plug adapter will I need for Portugal? Thank you.

Remember plug adapters and power converters are two different items. US uses 110 and Europe uses 220.

Electronics typically do not need power conversion and can run on 110 or 220. Bigger items such as computers come with their own power converters.

Electric toothbrushes and other items (e.g., water-pick; hair dryer) may require power conversion and not just a plug adapter.

And Italy can be even more confusing, as there are three different types of outlets there, for grounded plugs - like in bathrooms.

Don’t bring your hair dryer unless it’s a dual voltage one. The converters really don’t work and you will end up destroying it. Phones, iPads and electric toothbrushes are fine. For those you just need the adapter.
