What do you carry your cosmetics in?

I wear them. If you don’t, then this thread isn’t for you (and that’s great you don’t have to be concerned about it taking up space).

I think last time I put it all In a baggie, but I have to dump everything out. I don’t wear foundation, nor take blush brushes. I don’t think I have tons of makeup, but would like something organized and small. I just found this on Amazon, room for other little things too. Its 8 x 4 x 2. I’m sure it can be smashed down, but I like it. What do you use?

I use THIS BAG. I’m not keen on too many pockets or organization features because it’s not efficient for me. I don’t always have things in the right size for the pockets, leaving wasted space. This bag is like a baggie but with 3 compartments. Small things that can get lost go in the lower smallest pocket (tweezers, hairpins), medium things in the medium pocket (single eyeshadows) and bigger things in the big (brushes, blush stick). But it’s flexible, I can see emptying the makeup from it and using it for cords or something else sometime.

Mira, I was at BBB today and actually saw something like that! I thought it was pretty cool. I have single ones, and was going to have to use 2 of them.

I typically use the cosmetic bag that the "free gift" was in for the last purchase I made from Lancôme. I bought 2 of the little cosmetic containers and squeezed the approximate amount of liquid foundation and moisturizer that I will need for 16 days.

Mira your Rume bag reminded me of a Le Sportsac pouch i used to have . . . I wonder where that thing is.

I just use some kind of small makeup bag. . .

I use a small zip bag and generally take the minimum amount of makeup that I can and still feel relatively put together. For me that means moisturizer with sunscreen, foundation, blush, concealer, and mascara. Tinted chapstick goes in my purse or day bag. For those that use foundation, Bobbi Brown's makeup line has a great foundation stick that avoids making your foundation one more liquid.

I used the following on my last trip: https://www.eaglecreek.com/shop/toiletry-kits/pack-it-specter-quick-trip-ec041170
I cut a plastic shelf liner for the bottom, to give it structure when in use, but I liked the fact that the shape was not rigid and therefore could fit into any available space. Also, I wanted something washable.
I liked it so much, so bought one for my husband to use for his shaver, etc., but he chose to use it for his electronic chargers/cords.

I have a wonderful sort of sturdy rectangular toilet article bag by LeSportsac that my personal care items go in, and there's a separate smaller one (like the size that goes in your purse) that my makeup items fit in--I like it because it's slightly padded. The one in the link looks like a good option.

I take my normal cloth makeup bag that I use everyday (Marshalls or TJ Maxx) it is probably 5x7. It goes in my personal item along with all the other important stuff. I take foundation, brushes, concealer, basically everything.

Since I only travel with the bare essentials, I have a zippered case about 6x4x1 inch that I picked up at a drug store years and years ago. Enough for a small tube of foundation and moisturizer, brow pencil, mascara, liner, eyeshadow, blush and lipstick, plus brushes. There's also room for my small manicure kit. It's small enough I don't need organizer pockets. Contents are easy enough to find. This is separate from my toiletries bag.

I dumped all the pouches and now use a Ziploc that I can see through. I just carry it to the mirror when needed. Meds go in a second Ziploc. Everything else, teeth stuff, eyeglass stuff, first aide, shampoo, etc goes in small toiletry bag. I got so tired of one bulging bag and broke it down into 3 small.

Hi Liz, I have several thin brushes I use, eyeshadow, brow, under eye. Plus, I have glosses that are sort of long. But maybe the elastic is too lose. I might purchase and just see.

Hi Lulu,
I try to pack the minimum of cosmetic supplies. I like travel sizes. I attempt to bring just the basics, so I have used a zip lock bag for the few items I need. I did see something on Amazon called "Lay-n-go" that is a lightweight pouch. When opened it lies flat, so you can see everything. It's machine washable as well. It would be great to store items in this at home as well. I may consider this for our next trip.

Edited to add: I just saw CWsocial's idea of a mesh bag. Looks like another great option!

I have the Le Sportsac that Mira and Kim mentioned, but I use it for jewelry. It protects a necklace, bracelets and earrings so well in the separate sections but still stays thin. I’ve never had any damage while traveling.

For makeup, my makeup goes with all of my toiletries in my LLBean toiletry bag that hangs up in the bathroom. For the ultra-light packers, it’s a dealbreaker, but I always just do a carry on suitcase, and this one is worth it to me to save time and be ultra organized.

I use the same thing I use at home: a small, round zippered container that I got years ago with a L’Oreal purchase. I only use mascara, under eye cover stick, chapstick and moisturizer, so I can also stick in my toothbrush and paste as well as a few other little items.

You've had some lovely suggestions and I also really like the bag that you have linked.
My daughter and really I love this bag for in-flight.

I agree, some great suggestions. I do like the idea of a stronger 3-1-1 bag than a quart baggie.

i bought that same 3-1-1 bag, it really fits more than the quart ziploc.
i was powdered makeup so i have a similar bag to the first one linked, mine's a little more square, that i've used for years - a space for brushes, a space for makeup, and zipper all over.

I use an inexpensive but lightweight nylon bag I found at the drug store. It is 4”x5”. It is very light.

I decant several products into smaller containers. My concealer and blush are in the two sides of a contact lens case. My liquid foundation is decanted into a 15 ml bottle.

The bag can be tucked it to corners as needed.

Most other things (tweezers, moisturizer) are kept in my toiletry kit because I don’t use them during the day. That means my makeup bag is as tiny as possible and I can put it in my purse as needed.

I don't use a lot, but I am also no longer young and need to use something so I don't scare little children.
I couldn't find anything suitable for what I take with me. I had some lovely quilted fabric left over from making a tote bag and made a custom zip or roll bag for exactly what I use. I wish I had a pic of it to post. It is made in the style of the jewelry roll up cloths but with pockets sized for my different sized compacts of blush and eyeshadows, brushes, mascara and lipsticks. It can either roll or fold in half and zip closed. When I get home, it goes in the wash and then into the luggage for the next trip.

I use a small Vera Bradley quilted cosmetics bag. I only use travel-sized powdered foundation, blush as well as brushes. Undercover and Mascara are also travel size. Deodorant and everything else I use fits into that single bag. i avoid all 3-1-1 except for the mascara.

I usually travel with girlfriends, and have converted them all to traveling with simple, folding hanging bags. There's rarely much counter space, and this way there's no chance of knocking somebody's mascara into the toilet. Amazon has plenty of choices, but I bought my favorite one (that holds more junk) at the Container Store.

It all goes into my regulation issue plastic bag, even though I have a very extensive moisturising regime! 😂😂😂

Like a previous poster, I use a pouch that came as a free gift with some cosmetic so long ago that I can't remember. The thing I like about it is that in terms of length, it is about the size of what was called a pencil pouch that we used in school, if you are old enough to remember those! It has a squared off bottom so it sits on its own. The best part is that it is shallow. I do not like pouches that are deep because everything settles to the bottom and I end up fishing around or dumping everything out to find what I want. When I unzip it I can see everything that is in there. It is not stiff so can slip into almost any crevice or corner in the luggage.

Bookaholic, I ordered those TSA bag and really like it. I does hold more than a quart bag, I’m ordering fir all of us!

I also ordered the cosmetic bag I talked about. I love it!! I don’t have blush brushes, but the elastic holds all my thin brushes for brow, under eye, etc. the middle part has more eisstic that will hold things like glosses. The last part is open for shadows, etc. I won’t have to dump my cosmetic bag to get to everything. I’ll be using this for all travel from now on, not just carryon.

Just thought I’d let you know.

A Ziplock gallon bag. Easy. Cheap!

I put the "liquids" in smaller one for TSA and use the gallon size for other makeup/toiletries since there is no restriction on size for these.

Lulu, great suggestions so far.

I bought that exact same bag on amazon (the link you posted), and this one too at the same time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q8V6JZS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I ended up giving away the one you posted because it's too small for me, and kept the other one, which is slightly bigger. I use a lot of products, but I decant everything in contact lens cases, and bring travel size blush, bronzer... sometimes I bring eyeshadows, sometimes I don't. I do use brushes but the brush holders can be used for your mascara or eyeliners.

I also have the lay n go, the one Sephora sells and even it's a neat idea, I barely use it anymore because I feel it takes a lot off space on m y backpack. I use it more for road trips.

Thanks for posting Geraldine. That looks like a great one, too. I’m enjoying find new ways to carry things that seem more organized.

Bookaholic--I just ordered 3 of those for myself and the girls, thank you!

For my dry cosmetics, I use a little case that my husband got when he flew 1st class. It is a Tumi and is a hard shell with a nice sturdy zipper. It is small, as it originally had a few toiletries, eye shade, etc. It is the perfect size for my dry foundation, blush, brushes, razor, Qtips, etc. I have been using this for about 5 years and it still is in brand new condition.

The toiletry bag that I ordered came. It looks really nice! On Amazon it was $9, and I ordered three of them. However, when the bag arrived it had a link to the company, www.cableinthebay.com , and you could order three of them for $10.99. Oh well, but just a heads up for anyone else interested!
