Can anyone recommend a waterproof non non-lined rain jack mid-thigh length that can pack up small for your day bag?
This is a very frequent topic on the Forum. You might try doing a search, rather than wait for people to respond.
How waterproof do you need it to be? Where are you going to travel to?
I just dumped a Columbia Arcadia that is not quite as long as you want because it didn't keep me dry in unrelenting rain on Orkney. It had worked fine for less steady rain the year before.
Are you going to be hiking or will you want it for intermittent rain in a city setting?
Here is a link to a longer Columbia one but it is Omni-tech, the same fabric that failed on me but would be fine for non-hiking, non-all day downpours. NOT sure if it folds up as small as you want, though.
I am not a fan of ponchos although many are. They usually fold up pretty small but I just can't stand the way they blow around. NOT adequate for any place that is going to be windy (Scotland, lol!!).
this packs and squishes into and inside pocket

I have an earlier version of this. It meets all your requirements.

Edit in case $40 off makes this more appealing
OR is having a Labor Day sale.
My souse and I both like our Marmot rain jackets. They keep us dry when it is raining and are easy to pack.
If you have a North Face outlet store in your area, you may want to have a look there.
I like Mountain HardWear rain jackets - I have an earlier version of what is currently on their site. Not only repels rain but also wind.
We love this brand.
They have many to choose from but here is one example.

After too many wet thighs, I took a Quince “Waterproof Long Rain Shell” last trip and it did the job in heavy rain. I carry a large ziploc bag and squish in that for my day bag. I also have the Eddie Bauer “ Girl on the Go Waterproof Trench” but the Quince squished smaller.
We don’t hike anymore so I didn’t need something with bells and whistles - just something that would keep me dry on a rainy tour day. They work fine on a daily basis at home.
Land's End Women's Squall Packable Rain Jacket
I like one of the jackets from the REI brand. Forgot its style name, but it's one of REI's most popular styles.
It was a splurge for me - but i love the Kuhl Projekt rain jacket and will have it for a very long time, i am sure! Great fit and function and rolls up to fit in my travel purse. www.kuhl.com
I have a North Face from REI that has served me well on our trips.
Another vote for the LLBean Trail Model rain jacket mentioned by greenie0112. It also comes in a longer thigh length coat. Very light and packable, and it hasn't failed me yet in hard rain.
My OR (outdoor research) rain jacket is half length, but it is completely rain proof. In fact it has taken me through hiking and pouring rain in both Scotland and on the Camino through Spain. It is light and completely squishes down. No wrinkles. pockets are all zippered. I wear it with rain pants for serious weather.
I often find good deals at Sierra.
Here is one that's a little different looking:

Here's another (limited sizes):

I love my OR Aspire jacket. It has gone to Iceland with me quite a bit, and recently Greenland. Yes, it is waterPROOF! I love that the pit zips go all the way down to the bottom, and you can unzip from there up, so if you are sitting you can unzip a bit and it won't be all scrunched up.
I love my Eddie Bauer Cloud Cap Parka. Waterproof, mid thigh length, folds into it's own pocket and weighs just over 11oz. Wait for a sale.
Keep in mind that a spray waterproofer like Scotchgaurd will waterproof most fabrics.

i adore this kuhl jacket. spendy yes. worth it - also yes.
@RGS, I have the trench version of that jacket on order from REI, I am glad you recommend it!
I love my LL Bean Women's Trail model long lightweight rain coat- it comes to mid thigh. I am bringing it to Ireland this October as my outer layer. I will also have another light weight, longer coat to wear underneath it as needed. Usually, for me, if it's in the 50's I can just wear a sweater underneath or an exercise type long sleeve shirt, if I am being active, and that's all I need. I love the longer length as I stay drier and warmer. Enjoy your trip!
I cannot recommend the LandsEnd packable rain coat. When I wore it in a steady rain, it completely soaked through. It was fine walking the dog for an hour in the rain, but will not hold up to more than that.
Keep in mind that a spray waterproofer like Scotchgaurd will waterproof most fabrics.
Not really. Scotchguard will make the garment water-resistant, but not waterproof. Water resistance garments help protect against light moisture but won't keep water out entirely, especially from continuous exposure like heavy rain. You're better off looking for a waterproof garment.
I've recommended before on the RS forum and will recommend again. The REI Rainier comes in hip length and now a longer length. The Rainier is available in infants, children's, men's and women's sizing. Lightweight and packable. I love mine.
All the best with your jacket search!

Another vote for Outdoor Research here. I fold it then roll into the hood & cinch down. This keeps it fairly flat & easy to pack into my Nanobag Pack for daily carry when traveling & expecting weather.
I’ve been caught in some really heavy wet weather (including sideways rain/snow) with it & came out dry as a bone. It has served me extremely well!
This one by Quince looks interesting.
