Can I bring walking sticks or a cane on aircraft from US to Rome?

You might ask the air carrier, as well.
I have not checked recently, but there was a time a few years back when TSA had no restrictions regarding carrying on a camera tripod but Delta prohibited that and allowed only inside or as checked bag.
I'm accustomed now to packing my travel tripod, so I haven't looked into it again.
Costco has collapsible trekking poles that will fit in medium bag diagonally.
The critical question is whether you need one to assist with your walking, that is, is it medically necessary? The difference is whether it's a medical device or sporting equipment.
Walking cane/stick, with no metal points - yes. Hiking poles with metal points - no.
