Veloce iPad bag?

Does anyone have experience with this RS day bag? Is it soft-structured like the Cevita day bag? We ordered the Cevita day bag, and were pleasantly surprised at how lightweight it actually is. This will be our "personal item" on the plane, but I want something smaller to carry on a daily basis that will fit my iPad. I am petite, and am having a hard time finding a bag that will hold my iPad "vertically". Other suggestions? Thanks!

I bought the Veloce IPad bag for a trip to Greece last fall. It is made from a canvas material. I like the bag very much, I did have a problem with the it on the 1st day of the trip. The strap broke just as we were walking up the hill to the Acropolis. I emailed RS Shop that night, they did offer to replace the bag or the money. I did chose the bag, which has held up the few times I have used it.

How big an iPad?

Why does it have to be held vertically?

I use a Patagonia mini mass as my day bag and it works well for me. Carries my iPad mini, lunch, some supplies, water, and a light coat if I feel the need.

Edit: The iPad can be placed in it vertically or horizontally.

I have and use the Veloce bag when traveling. It has a lot of convenient storage pockets (both internally and externally) and my iPad Mini fits perfectly in the inside, padded back pocket. It is slightly heavier material than the Civita bag but personally, I like the structure and durability of the Veloce day bag as compared to the Civita (which I also have but rarely use). I am 5"1" and find the Veloce just the right length for me with it's adjustable shoulder, cross body, padded strap.

For anyone that his the bag......how long is the strap when fully extended?

The Veloce bag strap is plenty long. My hubby is over 6 feet and he wears it cross body, as I do mine very comfortably. It's very roomy and not heavy.

Jill,
Listed below is what my wife and I have been using this year for our travels to Italy & beyond. The Veloce Guide Bag for I-pad is made of the heavier pack material prevalent on many RS bags. Very durable. Please note that when we are flying the VGB for I-pad is packed away in our luggage.

I used the Convertible Back Pack with an Eagle Creek garment folder, the Euro Flight Bag and the Veloce Guide Bag for I-pad.

Mary used the current wheeled bag (not Ravena), the Veloce Guide Bag back pack & the Veloce Guide Bag for I-pad.
It all worked for us.

The Convertible back pack is not perfect but I’m used to it and it works for distances up to a mile or so. Be careful with the Euro flight Bag. Great bag but is very easy to overload it. I used it mainly for a couple of guide books, rolled & compressed fleece, rolled Marmot rain jacket.

Our favorite is the Veloce Guide Bag for I-pad. This is our hands down favorite day bag. Good for guide book, maps, water bottle, TP, first aid, small umbrella. Remember...it is expandable. It eliminates giant handbags, summit packs, back packs that always seem to tell us to carry more STUFF. We have been using them for about four years now.

Enjoy your travels,
Gene & Mary

Thanks, all, for the input!

I have a bag that can hold my iPad 2, but it only fits horizontally, and the bag just feels too big. I have a messenger bag daily purse that is 1/2" too narrow to hold my iPad vertically, and it is much more comfortable to wear. The Veloce bag looks great.....and sounds like people are happy with it. Thank you!

I just measured the strap, from clip to clip, and it is 45 1/8 inches.

One other question for owners of the Veloce for Ipad bag:

Many of the RS day bags have "O" rings sewn in to let you clip his security pouch or other items safely in the bag. Does the Veloce for Ipad have this and where is it located?

I have both the Shoulder Bag and the Guide Bag. The Shoulder Bag has an attached clip, and the Guide Bag does not.

The Shoulder Bag:

Under the flap there is a large, full length inner zippered pocket. Then it has a zippered pocket that has slots for pens/pencils and cell phone. Located inside this pocket is a zippered "hidden pocket". On the front, of this pocket, is a smaller, thinner, zippered pocket. This is where the attached clip is (it is a small version of the clips used to attach the shoulder strap). There is also the rubberize opening to pass earbuds through. The main flap has a zippered pocket and fastens with a adjustable snap buckle.

The Guide Bag:

Under the flap there is a large, full length inner zippered pocket. Then there is an eyeglass pouch fastened with a velcro flap. To the right of this there are two mesh pockets. The slightly smaller has a zipper, while the slightly larger has a velcro loop to fasten.

Both bags have a zippered pocket built into the flap. Both bags fasten with the plastic buckle snaps. Only the Shoulder Bag is large enough for a laptop. The Guide Bag can accommodate an Ipad Mini.
