Using Fedex or UPS to ship luggage

I'm traveling to Zurich in a few weeks and a business trip is throwing a monkey wrench into things. I'll spare the details, but I dont want to travel to Europe with the bag I used for my business trip the prior week and I'm going to ship it back home before I head to Europe. Does anyone have experience shipping luggage via FedEx or UPS domestically, eg cost, wrappng the suitcase, damage, etc.

If your company is picking up the tab for sending the luggage by FedEx/UPS, have at it.

If you're paying the bill, you may find it very expensive to ship clothes home. Why don't you run by a Kinkos/FedEx or a UPS Store and let them tell you how much it'll be?

Might be worth taking an old suitcase and expendable clothing and toss them all in the trash.

David's suggestion to ask Fedex or UPS makes sense. We're in a college town so we see a lot of suitcases shipped around here.

If shipping to the US is too expensive, maybe you can leave the bag in Zurich and pick it up for your flight home? Or ship it to wherever you are flying home from.

I have had good experiences shipping luggage with UPS. We had too many problems with Fedex but none with UPS. Just pop into the nearest UPS Store (we use them a lot) and they will take care of everything for you right down to packing it for you. Here is where to locate a UPS Store near where you will be prior to leaving for Europe- www.ups.com/content/us/en/locations/store/ Also- if you have them do the packing, they will pay you for any item lost or damaged plus pay you for the shipping materials you bought and pay you for the shipping fee you paid, all at no extra charge. I am presuming you will be shipping domestically from within the USA before leaving the USA for Europe. A couple of the other responders seem confused and think you need to ship your suitcase from Switzerland but you seem to be talking about shipping it domestically in the USA back home before going to Switzerland. Also, save the receipt. You can use it as a tax deduction for business expenses with the IRS.

Ray and Chani- it sounds like he is saying he is going to be on a business trip inside the USA and then ship the suitcase home from inside the USA domestically back home before leaving the USA to go to Switzerland.

yes, this is certainly about sending a package within the US back to Kansas City.

Since you are shipping luggage home before you leave for Europe I would go with Fed Ex or UPS, whichever is more convenient. We live on the east coast and frequently travel to the west coast. Always ship golf clubs. MUCH easier and I think the cost is around $75.

Sounds like you are shipping the bag within the US? I have shipped bags home using UPS ground several times with no issues.

If you are in the US UPS has a special deal for luggage. You don't have to rebox etc.. Not sure that's true internationally
