TSA may allow water bottles through security

The TSA is considering allowing passengers with TSA Precheck to bring water bottles through security at airports that have the most advanced scanners.

They did not say when this might happen or which airports. They did say it does not mean they are eliminating the need for 3-1-1 bags or the limit of 100ml/3.4 oz of other liquids.

It should be noted that TSA reports that over 20 million people have TSA Precheck.

The new scanners are capable of identifying water versus other liquids.

The article does not define "water bottles." I bring my (empty) water bottle through TSA all the time.

What about Dr Pepper or Diet Coke or gatorade or Mountain Dew or Ice tea or a Starbucks latte or lemonade?

They allowed too?

Or maybe a nice chardonnay? How about a Czech Beer?

I have heard for years that bud light is indistinguishable from water so surely that's a go….

Happy travels!
