Travel makeup mirror

My daughter would like a travel lighted makeup mirror for Christmas with magnification. I've been looking around online and haven't really found just the right thing. Anybody got one they can recommend?

Amazon shows all kinds of those. What is it exactly that you haven't found?

This isn't exactly a recommendation, I bought this mirror before my one-month backpacking trip. The lights died within a week. Despite the fact that the lights didn't work, it was a great little makeup mirror. I would sit on my hostel bunk with that mirror balanced on my knee and put on my makeup. Something similar might be perfect for your daughter. Look for 3x magnification. Having two mirrors, one with and one without magnification is great. Something small like this was also nice. If the lights had continued to work, well that would have been ideal.

Bought the non magnified version of this mirror to give as a Christmas gift, saw it on a morning Talk show last Spring now about $15 less. This magnified one also has 20% coupon discount so prices between the two very close.

To find a lighted makeup mirror with magnification is much harder than one would think. I ordered one from AMazon and it turned out to be a regular mirror with a small mirror that could be attached with suction cups to the larger/regular mirror. I sent it back. I believe it is something to do with physics?? The magnifying mirror can't be flat. I have a few different travel magnifying mirrors and I'm still not happy. The largest one has about a 4 inch diameter and I find it still to small to be really useful.

Looking at the above Amazon link, it is quite similar to the one I ordered and returned. The magnifying mirror is too small to be useful for me.

It would be really nice if hotels had magnifying make up mirrors. Every now and then we end up at a hotel that does have a make up mirror. It is so appreciated. I'm surprised that more of the upscale hotels do not have them. We've been on one Viking Cruise and they didn't have make up mirrors either. Doesn't make sense to me. We were just under 60 and among the youngest on the ship. Wouldn't most passengers that age need a magnifying mirror?

I have one pretty much like the one Jean recommended. It's small, which is good for packing, not so good for makeup application, but you can lean it on the side so you have both hands free, it magnifies and the light is pretty bright so for traveling, all in all I'm happy with it.

Thanks Beth for contributing to this discussion. I think the mirror you link is a great option. I have the same thing, but it does not have lighting which would be quite an improvement Regarding this mirror, it is nice that you can use it on a counter top. I have found, however, that occasionally we do not have something at the right height to prop the mirror on. I've taken to bringing a command hook along so I can place it on a wall at my height
