I picked up some SmartWool low profile socks that are going to be perfect for cold/warm spring travel. I've been searching for a pair of low profile that will stay on my heel. Hurrah!
Being Smartwool, they'll wash up nice and be of high quality and last for many trips. If interested, they are called "Hide and Seek." Run about $13.
I haven't tried your SmartWool Socks but just the thought of anything wool makes my feet sweat. It was 108* on Thursday! For me the perfect low profile socks are Wright socks light weight tab socks. The tab protects my heel, they don't slide into my shoes, no toe seam lump or pressure and, the best part, I don't get blisters.
@horsewoofie: I'm looking for a light layer of warm at this time of year where I live and where I'm traveling. Def too hot for summer temps! I'll check the Wrights for future use!
I also use the smartwool low rider socks, I'm on a RS Greece tour now and they are perfect!
I have 3 pair packed as I type!
I wear the smart wool in hot weather and they are great. Sierra Trading Post often has them on sale.
