The Mardee TB Vortex

Stole this phrase from Lyndash in Pam's trip report. I wanted to respond but didn't want to derail the trip report.

Thanks to Mardee, I was inspired to (ultimately) get 5 pieces of Tom Bihn for our Spring Trip. I got two small travel trays, one for each of us, which we used as our individual catchalls for when we arrived and left our accommodations (keys, change, rings, whatever). I bought a cubelet, thinking is was the size of the everyday cubelet. I ended using that for a first aid kit, perfect. And then bought the everyday cubelet which I used as a cross body everyday bag on non travel days (used my backpack on travel days). Finally, I bought my husband the marathon messenger bag for his everyday bag (ulterior motive: it was big enough to carry any of my things that didn't fit in my everyday cubelet i.e. rain jacket and water bottle, which he was very gracious about). These all worked really well for us and I'm happy we got them.

Katiecem, I read your post simply because I loved the title. @Lyndash, thanks for such a wonderful nickname for Mardee. I didn't really understand it though until I read this post and realized TB stood for Tom Bihn. I'd probably not had enough coffee the first time.
Katiecem, I particularly like posts where they describe how they used a product during their travels. I guess I am now caught in the vortex as the website is the next thing on my to do list for today.

The Mardee TB Vortex

It's a sickness. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. 😱

I also clicked on this post because of the title. I didn't know what TB meant (first thought was tuberculosis), and I must confess, I had never heard of Tom Bihn and travel trays until recently by reading posts here.
Though Mardee did help me finally press the "buy button" on a new travel backpack (Bagsmart) that I had been contemplating for quite sometime.

I'm...I'm...I'm...speechless... (and I don't have TB)!

Well, of course I'm not speechless. You guys know me. I'm honored, I'm thrilled. I accept this award on behalf of all the travelers out there who love bags. My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, and as for myself, that goes without saying.

Oh wait, it's not an award? 😭

Ha ha, seriously, Katie, that made me laugh so hard! And I will say that for everything I have recommended on this forum, I have bought from so many others who have recommended products as well. There's a bit of vortexing in all of us... 😉

I just put 2+2 together and realized Mardee’s real reason why she went to Seattle recently! Tom Bihn closed their Bellevue Mall store, but they still have their anchor store inside their factory building. Mardee didn’t go for a vacation; she went to the TB store to collect her award & collaborate on a new TB item which will be called The Mardee Bag - LOL!

The Mardee TB Vortex© bag is amazing! I plan to use it on my upcoming trip.

It has built-in high speed wi-fi with GPS and invisible wireless buds that broadcasts directions to the nearest bakery and cafe right to your ear. It's 100% waterproof, has the compacity of a 25" suitcase but with it's proprietary built-in vacuum seal technology, the Mardee TB Vortex© compresses to just 3 square inches with the press of a button, so you can store it in the seat back pocket of your seat (it comes with it's own hygienic removable plastic cover too). It also directs you to the RS Forum with the push of a button cleverly disguised as a zipper.

Available in colors to match all capsule wardrobes and sold at Costco and the RS Store.

Compulsive Shopping Syndrome may be just as serious.

Right now I’m traveling down Hwy 377, in a pickup, husband at the wheel. We’re heading to his deer camp in central Texas, this falls under the things we do for love category😉. There are things he needs to do before we head for 2 weeks at the lake in 10 days. So Bailey, our lab, and I loaded up to come along for a 4-5 day stay.

This always includes getting out my Tom Bihn 3D organizers, my vertical packing cube and my 2 cubelets. I use them for charging blocks and cords, extra pens and notebooks, daily vitamins, calcium etc and my just in case heart meds. They are in a happy assortment of colors and I smile every time I use them. I used to carry all this stuff in prosaic ziplocks. But after becoming aware of Tom Bihn I now have these packing helpers and a Daylight Briefcase that I love and use for my personal item when I fly. I also have the small travel tray that I love.

So I thank Mardee for ushering me into the vortex ❤️, I now cruise their website periodically just to check out new colors and see if there’s anything I can’t live without. And I also thank Mardee for information about Quince some time back. I’ve gotten a couple of travel Ponte pants I’m happy to have and I just got a pair of linen pants that I love and will be so great for summer in Texas.

So thanks to Mardee, we’re doing our bit for the economy and acquiring things that make us happy!! Win-win, I’d say.

I'm finding this topic curiously intriguing. Something is swirling around in the atmosphere near me. I'm feeling the need to organize. Am I caught forever now in the Mardee TB Vortex?

Laurie Beth, still on 377, going through Comanche on our way to just outside of Brady. It’s a 4 1/2-5 hour drive that’s not my favorite but what are you going to do? At least it’s a mild day, only 88. My goodness, Minnesota is a long way from Texas.

Jean is definitely on to something !!!

That cracked patella ?? Cover for the three nights Mardee spent INSIDE the TB factory !!!

And oh my gosh Mary you have outdone yourself !! Absolutely brilliant , all the features of this Mardee TB Vortex ©️ bag!!!

Laurie Beth, yes, you are definitely in the Mardee Vortex, never again to be free of its centrifugal pull!.

If Mardee designs a bag with TB and it’s USA made, I’m all in on it.
Mardee will quilt them; may need to hire some Amish to keep up with demand.

Aha... Mardee's trip by Pioneer Park was a result of the armful of new TB bags she was carrying blocking her view of the curb?

From literally the heart of Texas, we aim to please, Mardee. 😉 (I sort of wonder if Tom Bihn tracks it’s mentions out on the net and stumbles on this and thinks…..?)

Oh Katie....and Lyndash....and EVERYONE....so very, very clever!

I am glad Mardee is accepting her award. it comes in several different core colors and has a few seasonal ones as well. hahahaha!!

Mary! I love the description and so happy it has its own bag to go in the seatback pocket, hahaha!

I've gone ahead and signed up for the Mardee TB Vortex bag sight unseen because I am sure it will be a winner. It will be lightweight, have a bunch of pockets, and convert from cross body to back pack, lol. I just hope it comes in the Selkie color (blue purple) or the Cerise (hot pink). It will be a conversation starter everywhere.

Be sure to grab whatever you like if you see a color you like. The colors come and go like a, well, vortex!!

Laughing myself silly......what a fun, fun thread!

And Katie, I love the Everyday cubelet bag. It is perfect on a rainy day as it easily zips up under my rain jacket!

Pam- Yes! I wear it under my rain jacket too. I found it to be perfect size and shape for me on this trip.

I know, Pam!!! I should have my own TV show—the Vortex Shopping Network! 😂 😂 😂

Lyndash, I don't know if Tom Bihn tracks it or not, but if they do, I may be forever banned from ever entering that store!

They wouldn't dare! Too many have bought from them based on your reviews. They should be mining this site for design ideas. As should Rick Steves's bag designers.
