Wow! They had to let the cat out of the bag, lol.

I remember the cat that was discovered in a checked bag towards the end of last year, who had sneaked into the suitcase, with its human unaware. This time, the cat’s person knew they were taking the cat. So, no sharp objects, all liquids in small containers in a quart Ziploc, and remove any laptops and felines!

About 40 years ago, on a TAROM Romanian Airways flight, a cat was let loose on the plane. It walked around on the top of seats, using headrests as a walkway (catwalk?), and its owner didn’t keep it in a cat carrier, or on any leash. That was an interesting flight that I still tell (additional) stories about.

There was a series called Airport that followed EasyJet in the UK and Southwest in the US. I think they must have had four episodes where both Europeans and Americans tried to put cats in luggage or zipped up in duffel bags to not have to pay the animal fee. Every time, the owner said they'd had done it multiple times before and the cat was fine. Poor cats always looked so stressed. People are weird.

I was in the security line at Sea-Tac in Seattle waiting to put my stuff on the conveyor belt pre-Covid. I saw the person at the head of the line put her small dog in a soft-sided carryon onto the conveyor belt - and before any of us could do anything - the dog went into the scanner and then I heard all the security agents watching the scanner gasp and a few started to cry. It was absolutely horrible. Something I will never forget.

I'd seriously pay extra for this flight experience. I think airlines are missing a golden opportunity to make flying better here.

having friends and family members with cat allergies, I would be angry enough to confront a person bringing an unrestrained cat on board.
