Take the long way home

I was thrilled to get a call from the United baggage counter at SeaTac airport yesterday. One of our bags, which we haven’t seen since our departure on December 18, finally made it home! (We returned on the 1st so it was missing for our entire trip and then some). It was my son’s bag and it contained a few items of sentimental value, so it was a huge relief to get it back.

As far as we can tell, the bag went to:
Reykjavik (where the bag failed to make our connection to Berlin)
Berlin
Munich
Wrocław (where we should have received it, but had a miscommunication)
Warsaw
Chicago
Back to Seattle

I drove to the airport to retrieve it and I’m happy to report that my son is reunited with his favorite stuffed animal. I just wanted to share a positive ending to what was a bit of a hiccup of our winter trip.

Congratulations, Meg! That is quite a journey—-were all those tags still on it? When we retrieved my son’s large backpack in Luzern, which had been missing only 6 days, it still had tags from its journey—-New York (where it missed the connection to Zurich) to Paris to Zurich to Grindelwald (by courier, and that was a mistake as we were in Műrren) to Weggis (but we intercepted it in Luzern after seeing the AirTag was only 2 blocks from where we were having lunch).

Is the stuffed animal named Paddington Bear, lol! All the way from Peru!

Glad it got back home and yes, next time stuffy goes in the back pack. I hope he did OK without it!

Is Paddington’s nickname now going to be Supertramp?

If the bear hadn’t made his way back to your son, it would’ve been the Crime of the Century.
