Steamer instead of iron

A few weeks ago, I stayed in a hotel in Brno, Czech Republic that had a clothes steamer in the room instead of an iron.

I wish more hotels would do this. Steaming is so much easier than ironing.

Not that I iron. My mother claimed that after teaching me to say "mama" and "dada" she taught me "Perma Press."

Has anyone else come across a steamer instead of an iron?

Not come across it, but it makes fiscal sense for the hotel, as it means less equipment to purchase.

The downside is a steamer is probably easier to walk off with than an iron, particularly if its a good one.

There was a steamer in my hotel in Montreal last week; it was part of Marriott chain.

I haven't seen one in my room, at least not that I can remember, but I have asked for one before from the front desk and gotten one. I can't remember where, but I know it's been on at least one occasion and maybe a couple more.

Sorry, my terrible memory probably isn't much help here, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you don't see one in your room and you want one, ask. Chances are they probably have a few tucked away.

I don't think anyone was going to walk away with the steamer in my hotel room. It was bigger than most in room irons.

I've never encountered a Steamer in any of the hotels I stayed in. Perhaps this is a new amenity that's being provided by some hotels? I'll be staying in a hotel in Vancouver in July so I'll look to see if they provide that.
