RS Ravenna Hard Case Suitcase, opinions?

My husband's "vintage" rolling suitcase finally succumbed on our most recent trip. Seems like there have been many raves on the forum for RS's luggage. My husband wants something with exterior pockets, regular wheels (not spinner) and the biggest possible suitcase that can be carried on U.S. airline flights. I'm looking at the ravenna hard case. I like the price point and the warranty. (and that the RS organization actually stands behind the warranty). I'm interested thoughts/opinions. I've also been looking at soft sided Away brand and Travel Pro's Platinum Elite line, both of which are pricier than the RS options. The two most important factors in our decision is the warranty and capacity.

I had a Ravenna. Two weeks after getting it, and in the middle of a tour, the top handle came off.

RS offered to either send me a new bag or refund my money. Since I was on tour and had to get a new bag, I took the refund.

It was seven years ago so they may have improved the bag since then.

Take a look at Eagle Creek. If you want maximum capacity, then look at Rolling Duffels. The less number of pockets, the more packing room.

We’ve had our Ravenna carryons since 2016. Mine has some stitching that broke. They stand behind their products. RS told us it was being discontinued and they would replace it with the black they still had in stock or with another carryon. We took the black because it’s been a great piece of luggage.

I have the original version of the RS soft side rolling carry-on. It's now more than 20 years old and still going strong. While technically soft-sided, the interior shell keeps it's shape and offers good protection.

The current version is one pound lighter than the Ravenna.

The top handle came off my husband's Ravenna, also. He got the suitcase in 2016, but he must not have used that handle, because it didn't come for at least 4 years. The screw on one side had completely missed the hole. Rick Steves immediately sent him a new suitcase, and he drilled a new hole and reattached the handle on the old case. I now use the original case, and the miles it has traveled are starting to show. His "new" case still looks like new! We used these suitcases for 24 days in September.
