I am looking for a 19 inch spinner carry on. I like the RS softside as it has many outside pockets for quick document access. It also has a small side compartment for a water bottle. Duh!! Thank you Rick. It is a great option so that while you are waiting to board
you don't have to fuss in your tote bag for the water you need. I don't understand why all the manufacturers can't include this. Even a net would be great. Anyway, I would like to know if anyone has Ricks soft side luggage and how they would rate it. Ease of movement, wheels etc. It is a bit pricey but if it is good and can withstand the terrors of travel. I would consider it.
Are you talking about the 21" spinner carry-on? https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/carry-on-spinner-luggage
I don't think RS sells a 19". The 21" is the only spinner carry-on. It does measure 19.5" without the wheels, but for carry-on purposes on a flight, they include the wheels in the measurements; which is why it is called a 21" bag. If you don't need it right away, you might want to wait a bit for it to go on sale - he has periodic sales where items are 20% off.
I have the 21" TravelPro Maxlite 5 and love it - it's very lightweight (5.4 lbs as opposed to 6.7 for the RS bag), holds a lot, and is easy to maneuver. It does not have a side pocket for a water bottle but I wouldn't use that feature anyway as my tote bag has that.
I have the TravelPro Crew 21" and I love it!
Ok I did order the Travelpro today. what sold me was the weight.
