Our trip stretched about a month from mid-August to mid-September. Temperatures were often higher than usual, as was the case in much of Europe, except in Brasov, which was 20 degrees (or more) colder than Bucharest with a bit of rain as well as a couple of cooler days in Maramures. I was very happy to have the jeans, long sleeve T and jacket for those days. I don't worry about the "wash it in the sink" rule as I'm more comfortable in my regular 'uniform' and get laundry done as necessary en route. Everything is Land's End unless otherwise noted.
On the plane I'm always cold, so:
Jeans, white long sleeve t shirt, navy cardigan sweater, lightweight fleece jacket, skechers flats, compression socks, bra and underwear of course, and a belt. I wasn't too warm, but I did look like I was ready to play in the snow compared to everyone else.
In the suitcase, one packing cube plus toiletries bag. The packed rollaboard bag totaled a smidge under 8 kg:
1 pair each khaki and navy knee-length shorts
3 polos; white, pink, yellow
1 khaki skort (I debated leaving this out, but it was nice to have a little variety)
1 navy reversible 3/4 sleeve knit shirt
1 sleep T
1 leggings for sleep and apartment leisure wear
1 sunhat
1 ExOfficio underwear (I'm a member of the wear one, wash one club)
1 pair low cut socks for skechers
1 pair hospital slipper socks, discarded at the end of the trip
Teva sandals
Toiletries bag (still too heavy, but getting better!)
Couple of ziploc bags, various sizes
Small water bottle that fits in the too-small outside pocket of my cross-body bag
In my personal item:
Disposable contacts for 35 days
Glasses, sunglasses and reading glasses for me and hubby
Medications for both of us for 35 days
Spare hearing aids and diabetes equipment for hubby
iPad mini and cord
Phone and cord
Electronics case holding adapters, multi-outlet plugs, etc. for 2
(New) camera and charger, a Canon PowerShot SX 740 HS, which I love
A few guidebook pages, folder for tickets, tour reservations, etc.
Notebook and pens
Couple of snacks - crackers, nuts etc.
Cross-body day bag
Money belt with cash I used for Walkative tourguide tips, craft shopping, casual small purchases and some restaurants. My credit union sells currency at cost with no-fee delivery, so it's a no-brainer to take some with me and try to skip the ATM. Also in there were copies of passport pages, back-up credit cards and debit cards. I put this on after I go through security, as in the past I had to have a physical inspection because I was wearing it. Not doing that again.
Airplane seat-back pocket bag with flight essentials like meds, hand cream and lip balm etc.
I was happy with the selections. I didn't feel like I was missing anything. I wore everything repeatedly, although it did get a little boring. I came home with a couple days' worth of meds and contacts, as planned, as well as a couple of small Romanian acquisitions.
