I used an Eagle Creek passport pouch for the first 5 or 6 years of travel. I went and looked and, well the world has changed. I didnt like anything I saw, except maybe one by Samsonite. For me the idea is to hold the passport and maybe a backup credit card, nothing else. I dont want a giant 4 zipper pouch hanging around my neck. I want something just a tiny bit larger than the passport ... period. But everyone now is selling the monster pouches for passport, money, cell phones with a half dozen zipper compartments, etc. I guarantee I would keep one of those around my next for 5 minutes and toss it. The idea is something you can put on and forget about.
Now I use my pants pocket. Of course I dont go to Barcelona or Prague or Paris.
I carry my passport in a Tom Bihn Passport Pouch but only on days I will need to show it such as crossing borders. Otherwise it sits in my "Hidden Pocket" type moneybelt.
No matter what shirt I wear, you can tell I'm wearing something underneath. That's why I don't like neck wallets.
And the one FrankII has is about the right size. I gave up on the thing for my pocket around town. When crossing borders I carry a small cross body bag. Especially when flyig as everything from my pockets and my watch and phone and back up battery etc, fits in it. Security is a snap. Something like this: https://pacsafe.com/products/rfidsafe-rfid-blocking-tech-crossbody The one I have is also PacSafe but its very old, smaller and they dont make it any longer.
This one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071J39MPL?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1 is perfect for me.
It is small and thin but holds my passport, cell phone, a few credit cards, tissues, a pill or two and my Burt's Bees lip balm.
For a female - unless you’re VERY flat chested - I recommend a money belt for your passport and extra credit cards and cash and a small cross body bag for your day’s worth of cash, one credit card, sunglasses, tissues, lip balm, cell phone and the pages torn out of your RS guidebook that you need for the day. Also a pencil and a small Moleskin notebook. A neck wallet just doesn’t work for most females.

Ditto. Besides being unsightly beneath my clothing, I'm very short so it would be uncomfortable when sitting down. I can't tolerate money belts either. Cross-body bag with locking zippers is my go-to, although it's good that there are multiple ways to skin the security cat, eh?

I wear mine cross-body under my clothes
I wear a neck wallet with passport, debit card and 1 backup credit card. It’s lightweight, has a zipper closure and I have the strap/cord long enough that it comes down to my waist on top of left hipbone. It ends up being comfortably held in place by my pants waist as well as attached to the narrow strap around my neck. Sometimes it’s crossbody, sometimes it is around my neck, always under my clothes but with the length of the strap I can access it from the bottom of it rather than pull it out my neckline. Amazon has a few different similar options.
There is absolutely no reason to pay for RFID
I realize that all these vendors have convinced everyone, you have to have RFID blocking because it’s going to protect you when people can walk down the street with scanners and get your credit card information
OK, so next time you go to the grocery store and you want to pay for your groceries, you’re just going to walk out after you walk past the scanner because it’s going to pick up your credit card information right? And when you get arrested for shoplifting, you’ll see the problem with this idea.
As someone who works in cyber security, there are basically no instances of this occurring. And why would there be. First of all a miracle would have to occur for the scanner to actually get everything it needs and they would probably be standing on your foot and you might notice and secondly, why would they try that when it’s so much easier to go in the dark web and buy 100 guaranteed good credit cards with all the information they need. No RFID blocking is just something to pay extra for so if these vendors can get more money out of you.
If you like the product. fine but if you’re buying it because it offers you this protection, you are being ripped off
There is absolutely no reason to pay for RFID
But its hard to find one of these at any price, that is not RFID, need it or not.
I don't use a money belt or a neck wallet. I only use my small secure crossbody purse, which is an older, quieter version of this bag. (I often use this type of bag at home because I just like its organization and it is small.) When I get to my location, I remove my back up financial cards and keep them in my suitcase. I've been traveling since 1976 internationally and all has been well. There was a brief time after finding this RS forum, that I used a leg wallet for security because of all the chatter about safety on here. I'm used to urban environments, so that phase is long gone as I'm comfortable that my items are as safe traveling as at home. However, everyone is different and you should figure out what will make you feel and be the most secure. Personally, I believe a few lockable zippers on a crossbody purse that stays on your body is sufficient. YMMV
