Review: Costco Baggallini Memento Crossbody goes to France

At the Seattle (Sodo) Costco I recently bought the Baggallini Memento Securtex crossbody in black. Let’s just get this out of the way - I admit to having a tiny travel bag collecting problem. I’m always looking for the perfect bag and so far, after a week in France, this one is working well. It is secure, small but not too small, and lightweight with a comfortable, adjustable strap. Neither my husband nor I use a money belt, so I don’t take my bag off at all during the day.

The Memento has all the securtex features: the three exterior zippers can “lock”, the strap is cut-resistant and there are several RFID interior compartments.

Here’s what I managed to stuff inside:
sunglasses in a soft case; a packet of tissues; med kit including an epi-pen and an inhaler; earbuds in charging case; ball point pen; lipstick; lip balm; small retractable measuring tape; a folding nylon shopping bag; 2 passports; 3 credit cards; drivers license; passport card; travel insurance card; American dollars and Euro bills; a small coin purse and my iPhone 16pro with a pop-socket. Phew!

It is a bit bulgy/ lumpy looking, but all the zippers zip/shut easily. I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer clipped to the strap.

When I’m out and about I tether my phone to an exterior D-ring on the bag using a nylon wrist strap and then tuck the phone into the front exterior pocket. I have two credit cards and any transit passes in my Apple wallet. In Paris, with Navigo on my phone, I tapped in and out of the metro without even taking my phone out of the pocket - I just tapped the purse against the reader and it read through the fabric.

I think that I paid something like $34.99 for it at the warehouse. It is also available to members online for $39.99.

On previous trips I was wearing 2 small bags to carry all my stuff- a Baggallini crossbody wallet that was just big enough for my money, cards, phone and our passports. As a mini day bag I used a small Baggu crescent bag to hold the rest. The Memento holds as much as those two bags more efficiently plus the shoulder strap is more comfortable (sorry Baggu).

What a lovely review, thanks! I admit to having a tiny travel bag collecting problem, HA. Well I don't but now I might have to try this one out.

JenS, I’m impressed. I looked up the measurements and your bag is roughly the same size as the Sidekick by Tom Bihn which I carry when I need to size up a-bit. And that’s still not a big purse either. That is a great price, too. Much better to carry one bag instead of two. And scanning the Navigo through the bag, very cool! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy France.

I have a Baggalini bag that I do love in black. Oh, but, my goodness, sure love the "Northbound" style, and it does come in the cranberry color on the Costco website. The Northbound appears to be a little taller.

Thanks, JenS, for the review. I, too, have a bag collecting problem. I am so tempted by this bag, but I am trying to talk myself out of it. I have about a dozen bags of various sizes and dimensions from Travelon, PacSafe and Baggallini, so I really don't need this one, but the multi-colored one sure is cute.

My local Costco isn’t carrying this, so I ordered it from Costco online - $39.99 + tax. Shipping is free. They only offered it in black.
Looks like a great addition to my collection. I’m glad to see they are now including a way to secure the zippers.
These bags last for years. I toss them in the washer and air dry.
A few years ago, I bought one at Home Goods for about $10 - the strap was missing, thus the low price. I contacted Baggallini and they sent a replacement strap at no cost. Great company with great designs.

I've been using the same Baggalini for over 15 years. The strap is wide which is what makes it comfortable. I don't think crossbody was a term when I bought it, but that's how I use it. I put my own little travel lock on it, since it's pre-lock design. I've purchased a couple at Costco but returned then because of a narrow strap. But once you find the one (or two+) you like, they are fantastic!

I love the Bagallini crossbody bags - I must admit to having 3 of them in different colors and 2 different sizes. They work very well, carry lots, and the anti-theft features and crossbody strap are great. Plus they fold up nearly flat when not in use (such as when using a backpack on the airplane plus a carry-on)

The website shows a "Multi" in addition to the Black
Looks to be a swirl of black and gray

FYI, I checked out the Baggalini website. They are having a sale. Further, new customers get an additional discount.
