Hi,
I have read through the forum topics and didn't see a specific mention of a cane/stool combo that people have used and liked.
My sister and I are traveling with my parents on an Oddyesy tour and while my dad is mobile, he is 85 and is going through cancer treatments and can tire easily. I would like to bring along a cane with seat or a small stool should he need to just stop and rest.
Are there any specific recommendations on a product?
Appreciated.
someone hs discussed cane with stool on forum and very recently.
I read the posts and was not interested in the time but have become more interested. I tried to go back to discussion but could not find it.
I believe the posts were within a discussion and all that i can remember is that it was recent.
Hope someone from forum will jump in with a link to the discussion
Hi there! Yes, I posted a thread about it, with some excellent responses. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/packing/light-weight-packable-seat-for-standing-around.
I ended up choosing this stool, but warning, it barely fits into my 24" checked bag. https://www.amazon.com/PORTAL-Slacker-Folding-Outdoor-Camping/dp/B0BD8CL6TC
Haven't been to Pompeii yet, but will post feedback in January.
Many of the canes with seats are unstable, requiring the user to have a good sense of balance. There are collapsible stools which are more stable, and open/close easily. They have a carrying strap and can also fit in a day backpack when not in use. I posted a link to it on the PPs thread above.
What you want is a "Polo Seat Stick". They are much more common in the UK than in the US.
Try Cherry Tree or Horse and Hoof.
This is awesome - thank you so much for the replies and information.
I went to Amazon and searched cane seat. Many options came up.
Any information about length or link to a "Polo Seat Stick"?
I used a collapsible stool of this design on several stateside trips where I would have periods of sitting and loved it.

It sounds like you really need a sturdy cane/seat. This info is buried in my original post -
My friend who's a BA flight attendant said it should be no problem getting it onto a plane, it's a cane after all. Just use it at the airport and getting onto the plane. Hope that's helpful! https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Durability-Convenience-Anti-Slip-Lightweight/dp/B0DR46VGC1/?th=1
