Raincoat for a Sweat Champ

I will be traveling in the winter and spring to Ireland and need a men's full-coverage waterproof raincoat with hood and some thigh coverage.
My special problem is that, whenever I walk, I perspire heavily. Within 20 minutes, I'm wetter on the inside than on the outside.
Who has suggestions for the right compromise between waterproof, windproof, breathable and vented?
Thank you for your suggestions.

In addition to a good waterproof raincoat, wear under layers that wick moisture away from the body. You may have to spend more to find one that is waterproof and breathable. Most of the better waterproof raincoats are vented in some manner. I would agree with the other poster to start by talking to the pros at REI or Columbia Sportswear, Northface, etc.

Whatever you choose, make sure it has pit zips, zippers under each underarm. Makes a world of difference.

Hard ask here. I am in the same boat. Every effective raincoat I have ever had tends to feel like wearing a garbage bag. The least offensive are the high end three layer Gore Tex jackets with pit zips. Arcteryx and Patagonia are some of the best and well worth the cash, especially if you will be very active while wearing it. Only problem is they are stiff and bulky.

Similar products are much cheaper, but have less durability and rely more on the DWR coating, which you must be careful to maintain. Look at the Marmot Precip jacket. I carry this in my mountain biking backpack in case of weather.

For less strenuous activities, a two layer product (will have a mesh lining) will be fine. I bought a Gerry product at Costco for $20 that does the job well for just walking around town.
