Personal item backpack/shoulder bag

Anyone have an idea for a decent backpack that doubles as a shoulder bag? Or at least a backpack with D rings for attaching a shoulder strap? I’m having a heck of a time finding this type of bag. And the few I’ve found are way out of my price range.

Specifically, I’m looking for a midsize (25l, maybe) that will fit under the seat and within the usual 18” height limit. I don’t tend to overpack my bags, so should be able to “squish” it to fit if necessary.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Osprey.com is your go-to for this type of bag.
1). Transporter boarding bag - over shoulder/not a backpack.
2). Daylite tote packs - two sizes
3). Arcane duffel pack - 30 liters, both shoulder and backpack straps.
4) Aoede brief pack - both shoulder and back pack.
Some of these are on sale.

try looking for a "tote pack." You can also search this site for "tote pack." I remember seeing a few recent threads on this.

A Sherpani Sojourn or Soleil, which is a backpack, tote and crossbody in one. I use it as my personal item.

Sierra Trading Post has some great prices, and a good return policy if it doesn't work out. They have had some nice Cotopaxi gear in the past. Good luck!

Check with your airline to make sure that you desired bag will qualify as a personal item. Some airlines are cracking down on the size of the personal item. Especially the discount airlines.

Mardee,
That LLBean bag is about 23.5 liters. Wish it was created sooner. Would make a good convention bag. I already have an Osprey “convention” bag.

Ha ha, I did see it was closer to 23.5L but I just rounded it up. I like nice round numbers. :-) And yes, I know what you mean. It would make a good convention bag, although I haven't been to a convention in awhile. Something to think about, though! It does look like a nice bag, and I love LL Bean gear!
