Patagonia Black Hole Unpopular Color Backpack Sale Alert

Patagonia.com has the 25 liter and 32 liter black hole backpacks on sale for the unpopular colors. The 25 Liter looks like a good underseat bag for minimalist packers or for a personal extra “just in case” bag. Would make a good trail daypack as well for hiking.

I don’t personally own either of these packs. But, I do have a patagonia pack. My eye is on the 25 liter one - but, not in a sale color. (Good thing - keeps me from buying another bag.)

I just got the 25 L in red for 50% off. You can't beat that! I also have 2 other Patagonia backpacks. What really sold me on the Black Hole one is the back-panel handle that doubles as a pass-through so you can stack it on rolling luggage (in my case, a RS Ravenna rolling case).

@Reederman,
I like the simplicity and sleekness of the 25 liter pack. More for travel and day hiking - more urban. Some packs get strappy. With my body build - I prefer the smaller, less strappy packs.

I wish patagonia would have more discreet logo. Also, could lose the nylon webbing running down center of pack. I don’t like things dangling off my pack - snagging,

Looks like it has decent strap/back padding and just enough fabric structure/rigidity to hold things in place and not sag a lot in the lower back area. I don’t like floppy, sagging bags.

Ha ha, Sun-Baked, you've just enabled a purchase! But this time not for me. As I was looking through the sale photos, my 6 year old grandson came down and was looking with me. He saw the Kids' Refugito Daypack 18L (in Forge Grey) and told me I should buy that one. I asked him why, and he said, "Because I like it." I laughed but after he left, I wound up buying it for him. He needs a new backpack anyway, and it will make a nice Christmas gift for him. So thanks!

That's funny that you mention the prominent logo on the Black Hole bags. I saw a review on the Patagonia website mentioning that same thing! On my other 2 Patagonia backpacks, the logo is smaller and blends in with the colors of the pack: silver-gray on the black pack and light blue on the darker blue pack.

Logos: some people like bold logos; companies like advertising. As I get older - I prefer to fly more “under the radar.”

I will abstain from the patagonia pack until the color I like goes on sale. Or, RS makes the bag that I want. If I buy the patagonia bag - RS will start selling a new underseat bag the next week.

Mardee - glad you found a Christmas gift for your grandchild. See how your AI works! (Actually, natural grandmother’s intelligence - much better.)

Mardee,
I looked up that kid’s pack. Your grandson likes value sales. Based on the color/pattern - I would guess that your tike likes SouthWest American Indians and Zombies or Aliens.

Please let me know when you find this Patagonia unicorn bag. I have an older Patagonia Chacabuco 28 liter backpack that I love, but I would really like almost this same backpack in low key, “dressier” colors. My current bag is almost perfect but I don’t really want to look like a backpacker. The dangle bits also really annoy me, however, my very clever husband suggested that I use the “elastic strings” as a trolley strap. It works great! I’ve tried Samsonsite to Tumi and haven’t yet found what I’m looking for, but I going to work with what I got.

Thanks for posting.

Definitely zombies and aliens, Sun-Baked, and he’s been talking a lot about Native Americans lately. He came down one evening when I was watching Dark Winds on Netflix, which is based on the Tony Hillerman books, and was pretty interested in the Navajo rituals in the show.

@Wanderer,
The black hole bags have some subdued colors - just not on sale.
I would like for patagonia to tweak the 25 liter bag and either leave off the nylon strip down the center of the bag. Or, move the handle grip from the top of the vertical strip to the center of the bag. If dangly loops are a must - just place a few at the top and/or bottom of the vertical strip. (Just how much stuff do people clip on to their bags!)
