Packing report for 7 days in San Diego

I spent an awesome week with my fam in San Diego.

On the plane there and back, I wore:

  • Long flare leggings
  • Tank Top
  • Sport bra
  • Light hoodie
  • Light puffer coat
  • Adidas Terrex shoes

Packed in a Motherload backpack:

  • 3 capri leggings
  • 1 pr jeans
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 1 camp shirt
  • 2 tanks
  • Unders
  • 1 pr jammies
  • Sox
  • 1 regular bra
  • Bathing suit
  • flipflops
  • 3-1-1 bag & dry toiletries

12.5 lbs

Baggalini (personal item)

  • 1 Pacsafe crossbody
  • 1 book
  • Tablet
  • Laptop
  • Phone
  • All cords
  • Kleenex & overcounter meds
  • Glasses

Forgot to weigh this.

  • I wore everything except the swimsuit. The pool and hot tub were always busy & I avoid human soup.
  • I could have pared one tank top and one pair of capri leggings (I only wore the gray pair once)
  • I could have used another sports bra and skipped the regular bra

Forgot: my antiperspirant so I had to borrow my son's deoderant and that was not as effective. My jammies were fragrant at the end of the trip, lol.

I'll post a trip report soon. SO FUN!

I’m surprised that you needed a puffer coat. As a San Diego native, I didn’t own one until I moved to the PNW.

I had to look up flair leggings. I call those yoga pants. Is there a difference? Just curious. My Mom was an English teacher and calling something by its proper name was a youthful lesson learned.

travel4fun: I only used the light puffer for my early morning walks on the waterfront (foggy & chilly - AKA June gloom) and in Seattle.

Laurie Beth: Yep, yoga pants - I call them flare leggings since I don't do yoga.

Walking on the beach in June in Southern California is chilly. I think of it as Pacific Northwest weather. The breeze and wind off the Pacific goes right through you. While walking there I often wear a vest or fleece and a wool beanie.

I grew up in Del Mar, west of the 5. San Diego in general, and along the coast in particular, is a weird place for insulation. My friends who live there are not good at insulating layers when they go other places.

Even though they don't translate out of the region too well, lot of the surf style stuff that people wear is really functional for that region though. The Baja hoodie, the cotton Pendleton style shirt, lightly insulated cloth bomber jacket. Etc. I don't have that sort of stuff in my Seattle wardrobe too much anymore, often just borrow something in the genre from a friend when I go down to SD.
