Packing list for 10 days in Norway

My trip is coming up in 5 days, so I packed today. I am using the 21" rolling Rick Steve's bag that I usually use. This is my list:

2 pair hiking pants (green and black)
1 pair dressier black pants for dinners
2 Merino wool tops that look nice (navy and hot pink)
1 1/4 zip (light pink)
2 nicer tops for evenings
1 OR rain jacket (green)
11 pair underwear
5 pair socks
bras
1 nightgown
toiletries/makeup/hairbrushes/toothbrush

Fully packed, the bag weighs in at exactly 14 pounds.

Then my Osprey daypack will have my passport, phone, paperwork, cords/chargers, and meds.

It is nice to have all of this done ahead of time!

Shoes? Are you taking a second pair as well as the ones you wear on the plane?

Nope, just the one pair of shoes will suffice. I will do a trip report too:)

We are at the gate waiting to fly home. My packing list was just right for me. I did not wear one of the merino tops, but otherwise everything was spot on. I could have gotten away with less as our apartment in the middle of the trip had a washing machine. I did not realize that until we arrived.

My OnCloud waterproof sneakers truly are waterproof. We had some torrential rains and my feet were dry the entire time.

You only wore one top for daytime the whole time ??!! Wow !! And one pair of shoes !

It did make me laugh that you took a pair of underwear for everyday. Clearly sink washing is not your thing, lol

Glad your shoes were truly waterproof. Can't wait to hear about your trip. I love Norway so much, am sad not to be there as I was this time last year !

Safe and smooth travels home !

Kim—lol no, I wore everything except one top;) You are right, I don’t do sink washing. I’m not opposed to it but just hate to wait for things to dry.

We all have our things we can deal with and those we prefer not to!! I totally understand. That's part of why it's always so fun to read what people decide on.

Hi, I'm just leaving Iceland after a two day stopover a continuation of a three week solo trip in Ireland playing golf and seeing the sights. So I'm returning my car and there are seven young men in their late twenties or early thirties. They were having to upgrade their car to a van because each of them brought a giant suitcase each. And I mean the really big ones that you use to put all your other bags into when you store them. And one of the guys brought two suitcases.
So they were American kids or what I call a kid. "How many days you guys staying for?"
"About seven"he says.
I tell him my wife and I did three weeks all over Europe with a backpack as big as the carry-on he was toting along with the big suitcase. Then I show him what I used the last three weeks in Ireland.
He sarcastically asks me how many pairs of underwear did I bring, two?
I said no, I brought five but I also do laundry.
But these were seven guys with no Mom's to do their laundry. :-)
The last thing I heard was the guy that had to put the cargo van upgrade on his credit card needed his buddies to venmo him money because he hit his credit limit.
Like Rick says you never hear anyone say they wished they had more stuff .
Too bad they didn't take Rick packing class.
Have fun on your trip. And one pair of shoes is good. If you need another pair buy them there, they have shoestores in Norway I think.

Kim--I agree, I am always fascinated with what people pack. We all have our priorities;)

mbosteder--Oh my gosh, that is crazy! I head back to Iceland in 2 weeks and will be doing carryon only again. With mostly the same clothing, except I will be wearing hiking boots. My husband sailed from Iceland to Greenland back to Iceland this summer for 3 weeks and he managed with just 2 pair of pants and one pair of shoes, plus his various required gear, but his bag was still under 50#. I just can't imagine having that big of a bag for a regular trip, no latter the length.

This brings to mind three guys we saw on a train in Switzerland a couple decades ago. I estimate they were in their 20s. They spoke English and I'm certain they were from the United States. They had been dozing. Suddenly they woke up enough to realize the train had reached their stop. Man, did they scramble. In the area for luggage they had large duffel bags, skis, smaller bags, ski boots. Suddenly one bellows out "We got too much stuff." My husband and I still laugh every time we think of that.

Happy travels with however much stuff you lug around on a trip :)
