Packing for Poland

We planned for 5 weeks with daytime highs in the mid-70’s and lows in the mid-60’s. The first leg, 10 nights in Krakow, we were fine. Near record highs in the 80’s and mid-70’s in the evening. I was not as happy with my choices for Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz and part of our time in Gdansk, as temperatures were sometimes as low as 60 - 65 and often wet. Layers, layers, layers were the only solution. I brought the camisole primarily for the salt mine as I am always cold and ended up wearing it for half the trip. Everything below is Land’s End unless otherwise noted. It all fit into one packing cube, shoes packed separately. I left our travel umbrellas at home, so now we have 2 more. I was happy to have the jeans - they got a lot of wear and were washed in our apartment. They dried within 24-36 hours. Everything else dried within hours. I wore everything repeatedly. Looking back, I would have added an extra cardigan. I didn’t expect to be wearing the same one daily for almost 4 weeks. This time, I omitted jewelry (except for 2 sets of stud earrings), accessory scarf, make-up and facial wash and serums. I’m much more wrinkled now. Oh well.

Worn on the plane: Sketchers shoes, compression socks, jeans, a long sleeve cotton T and a navy cardigan sweater

Navy blue skort
1 pair khaki pants (lighter weight)
2 short sleeve polo shirts (pink and white)
3 long sleeve cotton T shirts (pastel green and blue, and white)
2 underwear, 1 camisole (ExOfficio)
1 bra
Old gym socks used as slippers and discarded before returning home
Long-sleeve pajamas (Usually optional, but I expected it to be chilly. It was.)
2 pairs no-show gym socks
Sunhat
Teva Sandals (good choice for rainy as well as warm days)
Rain jacket

I haven’t been to Poland yet but your packing list is very much like mine. Including what I wear on the plane, 3 bottoms, 4 tops , 4 undies, 2 bras, one underwear layer, tank or cami, 1 sleep shirt and bottom. I always bring 2 cardigans because some trips I wear one every day, and at least you can alternate. And always a raincoat of a sort with a hood so no umbrella needed. And 2 pairs of shoes. Depending on how long you are gone you may get sick of wearing everything over and over but you are set for many weeks.

I’m definitely going to krakow someday but still debating on Gdansk and Warsaw. How did you like the city?

Both Warsaw and Gdansk have their charms, but if I had to choose only one, I’d go with Gdansk. I really enjoyed all the museums there, the city was big but not overwhelmingly large like Warsaw, and it felt friendlier and more relaxed than Warsaw. I didn’t dislike Warsaw. I just felt more comfortable in Gdansk. Krakow is always a good idea. Terrific smaller city.
