Packable Slippers for Men

My doctor wants me to start wearing slippers around my hotel room rather than go either barefoot or just in socks.

Anyone recommend a decent pair of packable slippers for men with good cushioning and can accommodate a wide foot?

Have you considered Birkenstock Eva sandals (Arizona or Madrid)? Very light, waterproof, fit my wide feet, decent arch support and worthwhile cushioning. Have not seen anything else with the same combination of features.

My husband wears Skechers relaxed fit slip-ons for travel slippers - light weight and easy to pack (or comfortable to wear on flights). They come in wide sizes.

"Rubber" shower slippers (flip-flops) would work and are useful to hotel pools and saunas.

Frank II,

If your Doctor is recommending the slippers for a particular reason, it might be necessary to use slippers that address that reason (rather than using generic "travel" slippers).

Amazon seems to have lots of choices.....

Hi Frank II --
What Ken said!
But just a shortcut in case you have plantar fasciitis-- I strongly recommend custom orthotics.
It cured my painful condition within 2 weeks. I used them for about a year. I still have them if I get a relapse, and bring them traveling just in case, but don't really use them any more.
In any case, I hope you can find what you need!

In my opinion, anything by birkenstock has excellent arch support , if that is part of yr issue

A pair of slip on crocs would do the trick, they're very light weight (and not nearly as hideous as the clogs). You can wear them outside your hotel room too. My husband and I always take a pair of crocs flip flops for the breakfast run and the end of the day when our feet are tired of walking shoes. Some of them have unexpectedly good support, too.

Thanks all.

Unfortunately, the Birkenstocks don't come in wide sizes and I wear a 4E width.

Sketchers are a possibility.

I don't have any internal foot issues. . My doctor just wants me to stop going around barefoot at home and in my hotel rooms. Any shoe, he says, will give some protection.

I think I may just get a pair of inexpensive flip flops because they will pack flat. Or a pair of slipper socks.

My doctor wanted me to do the same because of a medical condition I have. Tried several varieties of slippers, never found anything comfortable enough. So I continue to walk barefoot in the house. I just make sure the floor is kept clear and step much more carefully than in the past and so far no issues.

Frank: I just bought these Skechers with the idea of them being my second pair of shoes rather than heavier athletic shoes. They are extremely light and soft and I think would easily do double duty as hotel slippers. I ordered a half-size smaller than I usually wear, as I felt like they run a bit large. They're snug but very comfortable.

Edit: They do have a memory foam insole, which takes some getting used to, but you could easily replace them with other insoles if the memory foam bugged you.

Probably to late for Frank, but for anyone else, especially women, wanting very lightweight slippers/flats, have a look at Flipsters. The large size might suit some men. I'm told the "new Coco flats" have a memory foam sole.

I like Skechers Go Walks for the evenings. They give my feet a change from my day shoes. I'm not sure how wide they come.

Frank, with feet that wide, maybe you could cut down some old truck tires and attach some straps! Or maybe those foam pads for kneeling while gardening.

Sorry, Frank, I simply meant that by now you have very likely found suitable slippers.
