Outerwear for London / Paris - October

I'll be visiting London and Paris in October - what kind of coat or jacket should I wear? I have an LL Bean waterproof jacket (uninsulated). Will this suffice or do I need something warmer?

Your jacket is fine. Just take a couple of things to layer under it if it cools off. I wear a aweater and cotton turtle-neck under mine when it's cold. I wouldn't expect really cold weather in Sept-Oct. Rain is likely, tho, so you might think of a way to keep your head dry. A scarf can be handy for keeping your neck warm.

Agreed that light, flexible layers (cotton sweater, light scarf, mix of long- and short-sleeved shirts) are enough to pair with a rain jacket and to provide options.

Hmm...good ideas here....Alright, I think I'll stick with the rain jacket I've got and pair it with a chic scarf when needed, layering when it gets cooler. You saved me a lot of money - I almost bought a new coat!

I agree. I generally take a wool cardigan to wear under my raincoat when it is cold. A light fleece jacket can also work.

I agree as well. Just make sure you have some warmer layers to go underneath in case it gets chilly.
