Oslo backpack

Any reviews on the Rick Steves Oslo backpack? I'm thinking of getting it for a combo personal bag/day bag.

Thanks!!

I don't own this backpack, but I offer these observations:
It's expensive. REI and Sierra both have several options at or below that price.
Depending on where you are traveling, a backpack isn't always a great choice for a day bag, for a variety of reasons. For one, thieves. Unless you are actually hiking, a backpack can be a pain because you have to take it off to get anything out of it. I use a backpack for my personal item, but I use a packable cross-body bag when I am out touring.
The best way to choose a backpack is to go to REI (or Sierra if you have one in your area--although they have a pretty good return policy) and try them on. They will have weighted bags you can put in the pack to test the comfort. At REI, someone can help you get a good fit. Rick's advice for deciding whether a travel pack is right for you (pack it, put it on and head out for a walk around your town) holds true for any backpack. Load it up, strap it on and go and see all the other travel gear you didn't know you needed.

I second the choice of a cross-body bag for day use. I have a Tom Binh small cafe bag that holds all my essentials for tooling around. Patagonia makes a nice sling bag, the Atom, which is similar in size (8L).

Hello,

Thanks for your replies. Crossbody bags don't work for me. I'm headed to REI this morning to see what they have.

However, I'm really hoping someone has tried this bag.

It's none of my business why cross-body bags don't work for you. Some of them don't work for me because I had a double mastectomy and some of the straps don't stay in place well anymore. I wonder if you have tried a sling bag. These can be worn on the back but easily moved to the front for access and for security. REI carries those, too. Good luck to you!

Despite having to take it on/off - I like wearing a day pack when out and about. My issue is I’m too busty for cross body bags. I do also like Ameribags for over-the-shoulder bags. Tear drop shape with good arrangement of internal pockets. Ameribags come in a variety of sizes, colors, and materials.

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the Oslo Bag. I do have other RS backpacks and have used them.
