OK, here is a smaller bag . . .

I posted a question about a 23.5 inch carry-on for international travel (Norse: LAX to Paris) and it's obviously too big. So here's my next question:

Hello!

I want to travel with this TravelPro bag which states it 's dimension are 20 in x 14 in x 9 in.

However: Overall Dimensions ( includes wheels & carry handles): 22.5 in x 14.5 in x 9 in, Weight: 8.2 lbs, Volume: 39 L

Norse baggage limit for a Carry-on / cabin bag is 22 x 18 x 10 in (max 10kg / 22lbs). Will I end up having to check my bag?

I've read so many reviews on Amazon where people didn't get checked with their 20" bag, and many airlines seem to have a 22" limit. So, I'm wondering about other people's experiences.

Your bag still exceeds the height limit. If they make you put it in a sizer, it won't fit. And that seems like a heavy bag for only 22". Have a look at the Travelpro Maxlite 5.

I agree with CJean about the weight of this bag. 8.2# is pretty heavy especially when you have a weight limit as well as a size limit. The MaxLite Travel Pro I think is in the 5-5.5# range. Take a look at the International Maxlite Pro.

H: 21.75 in. W: 15.75 in. D: 7.75 in.
Weight: 5.3 lbs.
Volume: 39 L

I have an earlier version of this one.
I think I paid CAN$100 for it at Marshall’s about five years ago.
It really is quite sturdy and very lightweight.
It’s been to Europe five times and still holding up….I recommend it!
(Sorry, the link is awfully long.)

Maybe you should check with Norse since other people’s experiences are not going to help you if the gate agent just happens to be strict about measurements.

The TravelPro bag you're looking at is for US carriers. The Maxlite mentioned by another poster that weighs 5.3 lbs is the one intended for use on European airlines.

I bought 19” Delsey clavel for my carryon. So far it is good. 5.3 lbs.

Been to europe over cobblestones and stood up so far.

I tried to get the lightest bag i could afford.

Norse Atlantic’s baggage limits for Economy passengers’ carry-ons are 22lbs. If the empty carry-on weighs 8.2 lbs, you can only put 13.8 lbs in it or they will make you check it in with fees.
The dimension limit is now 56cm or 22” x 18”x 10”
Norse has new rules governing luggage depending on when you buy/bought your ticket and if you bought it directly from them or a third-party. It is now quite complicated , so you should Google up “NORSE ATLANTIC BAGGAGE ” and carefully read all the rules.
Norse was planning on partnering with another company in July. The deal fell apart and on July 2 its stock plunged 43%. (Today one share is worth 21 cents). The news now is that Norse has a cash-flow problem which may put pressure on its employees to turn the screws on baggage fees. Norse is now running a sale on airfares to raise cash.
In view of this, I wouldn’t expect very much leniency at the airport.
Best of luck-

I bought a carry-on by IT Luggage last year (https://us.itluggage.com/). Weighs 5 lbs. Overall Dimensions: 21.7 x 14 x 8.1”. The one I have is a Lykke style, not sure they make it anymore. It was not expensive, we'll see how it does! But you can find various versions on Amazon, as well at at TJ Maxx and similar stores.

I posted on your other thread the suggestion to first at least get an idea of what the bag you currently own weighs, when packed with what you want/need to take, before spending any amount of money on a new piece. If you don't own a luggage scale at least get this rough idea, because even if your bag does fit in the sizer, if it's over the weight limit you have the same problem if not meeting their requirements.
It was when I was struggling with this for my Norwegian Air flight that I bought a luggage scale and it was only then that I learned how quickly items you think are small or don't weigh that much actually do!

Dreams, I have a Travelpro Platinum Elite Spinner that is 21 x 14 x 9 volume is 46L and weighs 7.8 lbs. The overall dimensions are 23.5 x 14.5 x 9 so it’s a bit bigger than the one you mentioned, but a bit lighter. While this is the nicest piece of luggage I have owned, it is heavy. I was able to carry it on United, but had to really tussle with it to lift it filled up into the overhead bin. I am sharing this with you just because as a novice traveler, I didn’t really consider the weight factor when I bought it; I was more concerned with craftsmanship and durability (and yes, the grey with brown leather accents was pretty lol). I felt like I had packed sensibly, without overpacking, but going forward, if I use it again to fly I am going to need to really streamline my packing to make up for the weight of the case. Just more food for thought…
