New Bags coming in 2025

I just got some information on some new bags that will be coming out this year.

Cotopaxi has a new bag called the Adventure Travel Pack. It includes a detachable 8L sling bag that can be unzipped from the top and used as a sling bag or belt bag. It also has a new torso adjustment that will help make the hip belt fit better. It's 22 x 14 x 9 without the sling attached. Available July 1. $300.

There will also be a new line of compression packing cubes to fit in this pack as well as some of their other bags.

Osprey will be coming out with a new line of Transporter backpacks that will be made with a lighter yet more durable material.

They are also replacing their current Osprey bags with a new ultralight material. There will be more info nearer to their release this fall.

One new addition is a personal item sized bag that has a special trolley sleeve feature meant to be used on the monopole design of the wheeled Osprey Ozone. Also new colors.

I am a big fan of Osprey. Looking forward to new offerings as my current 21” is worn-a-bit.

Thanks for this news. I found a video that shows these products, and more, from the recent TGA Travel Goods Show.

Cotopaxi's concept looks interesting--but it better be for $300! I like the compartments and pockets on the main pack. On the other hand, the sling bag is not my style for a "daily carry" bag; I prefer a cute-ish classic women's fashion crossover purse for my day pack.

I like the shape of Osprey's Transporter/Squffel pack(s). I think their standard bags look more like camping/outdoors packs, but this new pack looks more like a city travel bag. Their organization features look great.

I stumbled onto a company called Peak Design and their “Roller Pro” financed by a Kickstarter campaign. Has anyone tried it? It’s not cheap—at all—$415 if you pledge now or a whopping $600 if you wait for its public release. I didn’t spend a lot of time on the questions/reviews section but despite the reported generous pledges, so far, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of happy customers. I’ll stick with my cheapo Amazon bag.

wanderlust58 - just looked at it and it weighs over 8 lbs. Deal breaker! Otherwise, it's pretty gorgeous.

Too funny, I was going to advise folks of Emerald's Daily Carry YouTube presentation of the new Cotopaxi, but NYC Librarian has already provided the link !

The new Osprey packs - transporter duffels, etc. are already for sale on Osprey.com. Osprey is moving in the right direction. Plus, offering sizes that are more in-line with modern airlines’ requirements. I believe there is a new daylite travel pack as well. Blue-sign materials.

The current Transporter bags on the Osprey website are not the new bags. These came out last year. The new ones will be out later this year.

Thanks for the update Frank. I hope there is a 27 liter transporter duffel or daylite travel backpack.
I will check back with Osprey in the Fall.

Thanks for the info, Frank II. I will be interested in seeing the personal item sized bag that can fit on the monopole of my Osprey Ozone.

I get my information from the Travel Goods Association--a trade group that represents many manufacturers and retailers. They had their annual show last month where many of these things were announced.

I don't have any more information right now as I am traveling and left all of that either back in the US or in the trash.

I made notes about Cotopaxi and Osprey because their packs/bags seem to be popular with people on this forum.

@NYC Librarian (Also, known as protector of the Freedom of Public Information. Go Librarians!),

I watched the travel goods video you linked. Thanks.

The first company that comes up with a bag that meets my criteria gets my money.

Criteria: 27 liter, underseat bag. 17-17.5” x 13.25 ish” x 7.25 ish”: not made in China: nice mature “city” color other than black or dark blue: one main compartment: no computer compartment: trolley strap:
2 simple front pockets for 311 quart bag and other Knick-knacks: interior zipper pocket in flap: top and side grab handles: decent, simple strap padding: minimal straps: minimal logo billboarding: semi-rigid, non-saggy fabric: weather resistant fabric and zippers: cost - no more than $150.

Really hoping Osprey puts out a transporter duffel in this size or Patagonia. Amazon has a lot of “almost there” bags. My main issue with Cabin Zero bags, ecohub, or other Amazon bags is the China thing. For me, it’s not about bag quality from China. It’s about my anti-CCP political attitude.

Thanks for your vote of confidence, Sun-Baked in Florida! Librarians everywhere need support, especially now.

I am not sure if your ideal bag exists, but you could check Packhacker for ideas. I think they do a good job reviewing travel backpacks.

@NYC Librarian,
My mom is a retired librarian. I learned some things from her about libraries and the work all of you do.
I also learned some historical facts about libraries. When the internet came around, the librarians were the quiet warriors fighting for public access to internet and information. Librarians recognized early on the need for public awareness and access to the internet and the Information Age. Libraries are basically about transfer of information in any form. (Just think for a moment how monumental that is!)

No need to worry. The future of libraries is rock solid. Library technology is changing, for sure. But, libraries remain essential to every society and school.
