For long trips I've started bringing a microfiber hair turban and it's worked out very well. You probably need chin length hair, or longer, for maximum benefit. However, it works just to dry off after a shower, or as a facecloth/hand towel, too. If there's no hair dryer (which has happened) it speeds up the drying process. Very light, inexpensive, compact, and for certain types of trips, or climates -- invaluable.
I agree! I always bring a Turbie Towel or similar. One tip - don't bring a white one - I can't count how many white ones have been swept up with the hotel linens and lost for good.
Thanks for this recommendation. I have considered this, but never bought one.
I always bring one and use them at home as well. It saves on towels, it dries very quickly and takes up very little space in my bag. I usually bring the one my granddaughter gave me that is in bright Christmas colors. There's no way I can miss that one!
I always pack my Turbie Towel (& use at home). Advice to NOT pack a white one so it doesn't get mixed up with hotel towels is right on! They add so little weight but make getting ready so much nicer. I rarely use hotel towels though. I like the King Size Travel Towel I got from the Rick Steves shop here. Dries super quick.
Another yes vote! I have long, curly hair, and the microfiber is much kinder to it than a terrycloth towel. I use my wrap at home and always pack one when I travel.
This is one of the many reasons that I love the Rick Steves Forum--here's a recommendation for an item that I never knew existed but needed! I just ordered the YFONG 2 Pack Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap from Amazon. It has a button attachment that I'd read in the comments section was very effective. For $8.54 for two, I went for it. I always use two towels after my shower. I only get one usually in an apartment rental/hotel in Europe. This looks quite packable without taking much room. Thanks Judith.
