I just picked up a nice 100 % Merino wool sweater made by Banana Republic at my local Costco. I had to buy a size larger than I usually wear as the large was snug. They are available in black, grey and blue perfect for capsule wardrobe packing. And yes... I did try it on over a t-shirt right there in the middle of Costcos clothing aisles. They were $ 24.99 each.

Be mindful of any wool sweaters made by Banana Republic.
I have bought a few 100% wool sweaters from them; they have all shrank and I hand washed them in cold water!
One shrank from a man's large to the size only a 7 year old could wear.

brad, I like how you think! I'm a big fan of trying stuff on in the aisles there. 😂 I know you can return them but it's a headache. Thanks for the heads up! I bought one of those last year and really liked it. And I had no problems with shrinkage. I will start looking for them at Costco.

A tip that sometimes works for wool sweaters. If they've shrunk, soak them in a bath of hair conditioner, and the fibers might relax enough for a looser fit. Note, I said sometimes, but it's worth a try.
