I just bought this merino wool sweater, in 2 different colors, at Talbots for less than $20!
They also have this nice warm fleece jacket for a great price too.

End-of-season sales can be found at many department stores, outdoor stores, and speciality clothing shops. If you need to replace some items or supplment your travel wardrobe, get out and shop around.
Purchased the black merino sweater - hoping it fits well. Some reviewers mention the sleeve fitting oddly.
Feb-Mar is when you'll start seeing all the clearance sales from the recently past Fall/Winter season

Dillard's (Boise ID) had all of their men's Smartwool at 50% MSRP for two weeks. Today I expect to see that rack marked an additional 30% off lowest price: $100 half-zip patterned sweater was $50 and now $35. Not many pieces left, though.
End of season sales are great but supplies are limited!

I agree, there’s something odd with the sleeves and now I’m not sure I’ll be keeping it.
I don’t know why I didn’t notice that when I tried it on at the store, perhaps because I was in a rush. Hmmm..,
