Luggage Now Showing Up at Marshalls and TJ Maxx

In case anyone is in the market for discounted luggage: Both my local Marshalls and my local TJ Maxx now have luggage is stock. Everything larger than those little under-seat bags had four wheels (or, more often, four double wheels), but at least not everything was hard-sided/clamshell-style. I didn't pay any attention to the brands available, because I was only interested in bags with two wheels.

I’ve joked with some of my Coeur d’Alene/Spokane travel group that we should hold one of our meetings at our local TJ Maxx & Costco to shop for travel items! I think Ross also carries some misc. luggage.

Hi Ann! I saw them at Norstrom Rack (in DC) as well, including the Travel Pro line, which is the lightweight carry-on that I have. I don't recall the sizes, just seeing the Travel Pro label.

Hopefully that will trickle my direction, as well. That space in my TJ Maxx looked so lonely and barren when I checked it a couple of weeks ago! :)

In the recent past my local Ross and TJ Maxx locations have had little to no travel items. I haven’t checked at Marshalls but I assume it has been the same. It’s good to hear that these items are making a comeback. Thanks for mentioning this.

I used to buy luggage from TJ Maxx a long time ago. However, what I discover over the years is that luggage sold at TJM and Marshalls (and even Costco) isn't long lasting, lightweight, or functional. Of course, if one doesn't travel frequently, then it is not a bad option.

The lightest luggage I've ever bought (IT brand) was from one of those two discount stores. But you never know when it will show up, you won't have much selection, and there may be other companies offering equally light bags now, for all I know.

acraven, I agree about IT luggage. I had to buy a suitcase larger than a carryon because I had to pack some extra things to deliver to family in Germany. I didn’t want to spend too much because I didn’t think it would get much use. I found an IT 25” suitcase at either TJM or Ross, I don’t remember which. The price was really good and it’s lighter weight than my RS carryon bags. The company has a lifetime warranty on their suitcases. I’ve used it twice (a second delivery to Germany) and next month I’m flying back to Germany and will take it again because yes, I’m taking extra things to deliver.

My cheap 22” (which is really 22” of packing space inside) lightweight is from TJMaxx and has survived at least 5 years of trips across cobblestone, etc. It is still in fine shape but I just want a smaller one. So I am hoping my stores are getting stock in - I will try to get there this week to see. My needs change so I see no point in a hugely expensive suitcase that will last a lifetime.

My TJ maxx recently removed at least 50% of the purses to expand the luggage space. There is now an extensive selection, but a lot of hard shell (not for me) and nothing suitable in the 24-25” range that I’m looking for. I did get a great Victorinox large carry on at 25% of the online price for the same bag, but hoping to find something just a little bit bit bigger for our month in Europe.

Clearance of Fall/Winter 2021 merchandise is hitting those stores.

Look also for end-of-season clearance sales at your favorite outdoor stores over the next 4-weeks. Good time to pick-up an insulated jacket, some rain pants, a new soft-shell, etc....
