Lock for personal item clipped to carry on

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a lock for my personal item to my carry on? If I leave my luggage at the hotel for early check in, ferry etc I would like to make sure they stay together.

"Locking your personal item to your carryon"

I hope you'll be taking with you, all your valuables - Passport, money, credit cards, any tickets, prescription meds, phone, IPad - whatever you're bringing.

Even if luggage is clipped together, things can happen...Even if your luggage is locked up in a storage room / closet.

I prefer to err on the side of caution no matter where I am.

Woman or man, find a lightweight daypack / small purse or tote to transfer your personal things.

Or if comfortable, use a money belt ( for under your clothes) to secure / store your monetary valuables, PP, tickets.

A razor blade, box cutter, or sharp knife will cut through your bags if someone really wants to get in. But if you just want to keep them together, use a carabiner.

Thanks for all the advice. All valuables will be on me but just want to keep things together.

Why not just use a carabiner? You can link the bags that way if that makes you feel better. I keep my personal item with me when I leave my bag at the hotel as it has everything that I can't live without.

Wonderful.

Yes, carabiners, backpack clips, small bungee cords, or even zip ties < but then you would need to cut them off of course, lol.

Hardware stores or Wal-Mart Camping section is good for carabiners and such. There are also bike cable locks. But, carabiner is the cheapest and easiest way to go.

Some of the bags I use for my personal item have a "trolley strap" so I can slide it down over the extended handle of my carry-on sized bag. IF you are still looking for a personal item, this is a feature to look for.

Those who have sewing skills (not me, lol) have posted previously about adding a strap across the back of a personal item.

I often leave my carry-on and daypack at my hotel before I can check in but I'm not sure I'd leave it at a ferry. In the hotels I use I know the desk staff are there all the time so am comfortable with that. I do put my valuables (which are few) in my purse before heading out.
