Okay guys. I'd really like a good priced lightweight waterproof ...either a sneaker or a hiking shoe or even if it exists a slip on I can walk forever in :)

Did some research on this recently and came up with trail running shoes. They are very lightweight, wick, and have treads on the soles for hiking trails.

If you are an Amazon Prime member you can "borrow"/" order" up to 8 pair of shoes, choose a pair, then return the rest (for free and within 7 days) and only get charged for the ones you keep. Of course, they have to be like new condition so you can't wear them outside but it's perfect for finding a good fit, which I had trouble with. Oh, it's called Prime Wardrobe!

I don't think inexpensive and lightweight and waterproof are terms that go together. There are hardly any true waterproof shoes out there and those that do typically are made of Goretex material/ leather (not lightweight and quite expensive). Lightweight shoes (like Merrells) are made of mesh which takes in water. Check out REI (https://www.rei.com), they have great gear for hiking and a sale until May 28th.

Some lightweight (mesh) Merrill hiking shoes have a Gore-Tex liner so they actually are waterproof.

The North Face Hedgehogs. I just ordered my third pair from REI on sale now. I wear them almost every day, for international travel, and hiking. Its very hard for me to find shoes that fit but these work for me. Good luck with your search!

I recommend Salomon trail runners - they have waterproof versions and I love mine. Can run $80 - $120 depending on which style you get.

I picked up some Salomon Gore Tex hiking shoes for like $35 on super clearance from TheClymb.com a few weeks back. So there can sometimes be good deals out there if you don't have to buy right away.

Thank you all so much. Great ideas! I have a plan of attack now. I appreciate the conceptual tips too like looking for a trail running shoe and using amazon. Its hard to think of what terms to use sometimes searching for hours. If I buy a pair before this thread goes cold...ill let you know what I get. I will definitely keep an eye out for the sales :) Ill check the outlets too...never know haha

Carol! I went with the waterproof ahnu Rockridge 3. I got a deal off ebay for $32 including shipping. The insole comes out for orthodontics and they are cute.
