The tour bag suggestions are to make moving luggage around easier. I've seen huge suitcases on some tours - but the people managed to move the things around. Since you only have to move that luggage (presumably) to the hotel and back to the airport, take whatever you want.

Is this a Rick Steves tour? No one checks how big or how many bags you bring. As long as you can handle it by yourself it’s fine to bring a larger bag.

But the couple who are traveling across Europe for 3 months with nothing more than one shared Louis Vuitton under seat bag and Prada walking shoes will look down on you.

It’s about 1) what dimensions and weight the airline will allow and 2) personal ability to lug it.
Start with airplane baggage policy. Then, go from there. Also, decide if you are going to use laundry services after 3 - 4 days. Laundry services can help reduce amount you need to pack.

Do whatever makes you happy. That's all that matters. No one will even see your bag since you don't move hotels.

Enjoy London.

You can bring whatever size you can handle. I went on the RS 1-week Paris trip solo many years ago, and the roommate I was paired with had a huge suitcase. She took a taxi coming & going, so it was fine for her. If you’re planning to take the trains, just check that you can handle it, lifting, going up stairs, etc.

Question- If the hotel did not have an elevator, can you lug that bag up steep stairs? Have a wonderful trip!

Agree with all the others...and have you considered what mode of transportation you will take to get in to London from the airport? If you use the tube or train you'll have to get in down to train level in the airport and onto the train.

Are you doing any onward travel to consider?

Mr. E - I love your post about Prada, etc. Your couple probably is booked in first class.

If you take a larger bag - you may need to pay a fee for airplane/checked bag. Depends on airline and which class you book.

A 25” bag is about as large as you should go for practical reasons like weight and lifting and overall size. My husband uses this size and likes it. As a middle-aged gal - I can manage a bag this size.
Take your time; think about your trip; consider your options.
