If you could design your ideal bag, what would it be?
It would hold as much as I wanted to put in it. But no matter how much I put in it, it wouldn't weigh more than ten pounds. And it would fit easily in overhead bins or under seats. It would be 100% theft-proof. It would be completely self-organizing, so whatever I need to get out of it at any time would be right at the top when I open it. It would automatically launder my dirty clothes, so everything I take out of it would be clean, fresh smelling, and wrinkle free. It would be self-propelled, so it would follow me wherever I go and I wouldn't have to carry it.
Is that too much to ask?
To Lane's list, I would add that my bag would put itself into the overhead bin. Being under five feet tall, it can be a bit difficult for me at times.
I, too, want Lane's bag with the self-lifting option! (I usually travel with a 6' sherpa to take care of things like that -- I can't even get packages off the top grocery shelf at home.)
Laura B, I know the grocery shelf dilemna too. It helps to travel, and shop, with a tall person. Or, be grateful for the kindness of strangers.
Lane,
I was going to suggest naming your magical bag the black hole. But then, I quickly remembered that Patagonia uses the black hole name for its bags.
I like the laundry part the best.
I too can identify with the height challenge. Under 5'2. I've been known to stand on my seat to reach the overhead bin. ;)
See Hermione's bag in the last Harry Potter movie.
I thought Mary Poppins already had Lane's 'ideal' bag
Its available at the Disney Store. You need 5 crypto coins and must click the heels of your ruby slippers when you submit your online order from the computer terminal in Atlantis. It is the only one with the correct slot for the crypto coins.
( Yes, you can use your Delta miles to get to Atlantis)
Happy travels
