Italy/Tuscany 'dress code' recommendations??

We're going to be in the Tuscany area next month, May 2025.
Aside from clean clothes, what should we know about how to dress for eating at most restaurants??

We're only going to one 'fine dining' place for sure -- the kind where the tables are 'dressed' and the flatware is nice. I've seen pictures of the place, it's famous, Dario Cecchio in Panzano.
Otherwise just normal restos and bars and cafes.

We're each taking only one pair of shoes on our feet -- are low-cut hiking shoes or mostly black running shoes okay??
We don't have tons to spend for clothing etc. and we're only there for 9 days.

Thank you!!

I (male) plan to wear long pants and a collared shirt dining out in the evening. Shorts and a tee are fine for day wear, but dining out (for me) calls for a small notch up to low-end business casual.

Dario Cecchio’s three restaurants all look casual if you look at the photos online. You should be fine with long pants, a collared shirt and any footwear except maybe open-toes.

I don’t think Dario will use his meat cleaver on anyone except maybe those in cutoff shorts, a tee-shirt and flip-flops!

I only wear my suede Dolomite hiking shoes in Europe because they are soooo comfortable on streets or trails so new-ish clean walking shoes should be fine. Long pants, collared shirt. But, most restaurants want just clean and neat, not formal.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Some people need to dress up to be comfortable. My husband and I are not dresser-uppers and don't visit "fine dining" restaurants that would require a coat and tie, but we have eaten in some very nice places and felt perfectly fine in our tourist clothes. We usually wear whatever we've worn that day - casual pants, sneakers, tshirt or polo style shirt. I pack light and I'm not taking "special" clothes just for eating in.

You can dress the same as if you were going to a nice casual restaurant at home. Meaning, no athleisure wear or baseball hats. Those are bar/grill wear in my book. Men can wear shorts, but make them nice chino shirts with a collared polo or rolled up sleeve shirt. Ladies the same. Wear a summer dress with flats or sneakers.
