I suppose this was inevitable.....

I recently came across this new product, which will be available in the near future.....

I'm not sure that a high-tech connected suitcase is really needed, but it's certainly a novel idea. The video didn't really explain how TSA would bypass the biometric lock, but presumably they've thought of that. I very much doubt that I'll be buying one.

I'd love it if my suitcase had a mini webcam that would automatically turn on when it is opened, programmed to function when 'armed'/'disarmed' only by me. I'm sure that the TSA would not love such a feature as much as I would...

and how much wasted weight will be consumed by all these gubbins? How much weight for the big heavy battery?

Oh Nigel, I was just goofing around.
I wouldn't doubt that if it ever came to it, they'd find a way to keep it lightweight, I'm sure. I'm still marvelling at the tiny tablet I'm using at this instant to write this.

I know how much some folks on this website love night trains, so perhaps this model might prove more useful in the sticky situations that might arise on such an excursion.

Ken, This definitely does not look like a carry-on and with those spinner wheels, it's a good thing the company will repair it anywhere in the world because it will definitely need it.
Tom, thanks for the great memories! Gotta love Sean Connery, what a great 007 he was!

Tom,

That fight scene on a night train was as good as the one with Jaws, and the one with the guy with the mechanical arm. Fights on trains seems to be a common theme of the JB movies.

Sounds like something that would be totally irrelevant for those of us who carry on.

Well, I guess it would be useful if I wanted a "selfie" of myself carrying my bag!

oh come on, you know those will be downsized to carry-on in about 2 travel seasons!!

I looked and coveted some bags when I was home in the States the last few weeks but just can't justify the purchase right now. But I go on that Tom Bihn site and just drool and dream!!
