I'm shopping for outerwear ...

And I found a very nice outerwear piece at Costco yesterday. It's a 32 Degrees Softshell jacket that looks really good on me (I bought the green one), and feels very comfortable. It was $17.99 in the store and $2 more online. It's really comfy and only weighs 15 oz (I weighed it at home). Since it's Softshell, it's water-repellant, so it protects in light rain but you would get wet in a heavy rainstorm.

Mardee The Enabler, thanks for sharing the jacket. I need another one like a hole in the head but I do like that green. Since the majority of my jackets are black I might have to go to Costco and check it out.

Ha ha, you're welcome, Andrea! Always happy to oblige! Seriously, it is really cute and would be great for travel.

'Mardee the Enabler', LOL. Outstanding!
If you might be serious about outerwear, Tillys used to be outstanding too. But new ownership has taken it light years away from being travel-oriented and has also flushed quality control down the tubes. Not even sure whether their once-peerless hats are made from cotton and whether they are still made in Canada.

I am done. the clothings

Mardee,
I thought you'd been quiet for awhile, but never fear, here you are with a great shopping tip! Thanks

Mardee--I bought this a week or so ago, lol. The sleeves are really long though so I am still on the fence about either returning it or altering it. I guess I need to decide as I was thinking of it for our trip that is next week.

The sleeves are a bit long on me, too. I have short arms. Heck, what am I saying—I’m just short in general. But I’m planning on either hemming them or just rolling them up.

That is a nice looking jacket. It's not loaded onto the 32 Degrees website yet - sometimes they have more variety of colors there than Costco does so I'll keep looking. I was just in Costco this morning with a friend and we walked thru the clothing section but I didn't look carefully....darn it!

Mardee--I am very short as well:) I decided to keep the jacket, but it will not be going on the trip with me next week.

Yippee....

More shopping at Costco. Looking forward to the November dividend. :-)
( helps pay for gas... our taxes make it a $1 per gallon higher here than there)

mikliz--do pull ups and stretch your arms out?; or pull your hands in under cover when its cool to keep them warm?

I love that color and the price is good, but does it have inside pockets? I’ve realized how much I depend on inside pockets, so now that’s a non negotiable for me.

Mardee- you got me thinking that I still don’t have the perfect denim travel jacket. I have one I like a lot-it is very lightweight and flattering but doesn’t look good with anything underneath. It is too short to accommodate a sweater well and I look a bit like a stuffed sausage.

Anyway, your post resulted in me ordering a new denim jacket from Nordstrom rack in my endless quest for perfection. Now if I don’t like it, I may just have to order your newest find!

Or maybe I will just order them both!

Joe—it has outside pockets but they have a snap on each one to close so it’s not secure like with a zipper.

I’m in Washington and had to go to Costco for gas yesterday. Of course I went inside and looked for ‘the’ jacket. Yep, I bought one in green. I have a similar jacket in black without a hood, but the hood won me over. I am short at 5’3” and I often have to roll up sleeves. I usually wear a medium in a jacket but that size felt a bit big. The small fit better and the sleeves are perfect . The one feature I wasn’t crazy about is the pockets have a snap, not a zipper. I don’t know yet if it will come with me on my trip in a few weeks, but it will definitely get plenty of use at home. Thanks for the recommendation, Mardee.

Glad you all like the jacket!

mikliz97, I actually like the snaps better as usually the only thing I put in the outside pocket is my phone, and I keep it open so it's handy. Plus I like to put my hands in my pockets, and I hate the feeling of the zippers in there. The snaps feel less "invasive." :-)

Two more purchased lol! I bought the cream colored one in a size S. Tried on an M but the sleeves were better for me in the S. I also got the green one for my daughter in the XS. It’s really comfortable and seems to be such a nice weight for walks and outside activities. Daughter runs and walks to work and is always looking for something that is water resistant, has a hood and is not too heavy or thin.
Thanks mardee! :)

KRS, yes, it does have deep 2 inside pockets on each side at the bottom.

Or maybe I will just order them both!

Ha ha, Beth, that's the spirit!

Mustlovedogs, glad you liked it!

Pam, I've still waiting for 32 Degrees to open up their fall clothing. I do love that green color, though, so that works for me. :-)

Pat, I've lost some weight recently, so nothing fits me anymore. Perfect excuse to shop!

I always go to REI for jackets. While pricy, they hold up well and are great for layering.

heather--I almost always shop at REI for jackets, but Costco has some great ones for every day. I like REI for the technical ones. I am taking 2 from there on our trip this coming week because they layer so well.
