How often is there RS sale?

There are weekly deals just watch the store on the web site, also during holidays there is always some type of sale going on. Rick Steves bags are excellent and have a good track record. I used my rolling backpack for 5 years of travel before my daughter "stole" it for her adventures and never returned it! My all time favorite is the Classic Backdoor bag, if you use packing cubes this bag is light weight and is easy to get into overhead compartments.

Thanks! I actually want the Ravenna Day Pack. I have the Veloce and do love it, but would like a larger one. Plus, other stuff.

Can anyone tell me their opinions of the 2 compared. I guess this time I want to use it as part suitcase instead of just only iPad, papers, etc.

Reviews of RS luggage are mostly very positive but you won't find any reviews on the RS store. You can search the forums. I found a few clip on YouTube specifically reviewing the Civita day bag and I think you can confidently apply the same information to the Ravenna. But, basically, they're just backpacks and you can find those anywhere. The last official RS sale I recall reduced several luggage items by 15-20%. That's not much of a sale. If you visit your local sporting goods and department stores, you can probably find great day bags for much less than $40. However, if you are rough on your stuff or you need specialized organization and protection features, you can easily spend $100 on an excellent 20 liter backpack that will last forever.

Thank you very much for that link! That is not at all what I’m looking for. I went and read the descriptions again about the bags. I feel pretty ridiculous right now, but I didn’t realize the Veloce bag had a zipper to expand! I tried that and I think there will be enough room for what I need. I’m still glad and came on and asked. I thought the Civita bag had structure like my veloce bag, but it doesn’t.

There are typically some kinds of sales whenever they do a "Travel Festival" (typically a weekend day when there are a large number of presentations at the Edmonds HQ). Also, whenever they have a talk on a specific country (again, in Edmonds) often the book for the same destination will be discounted.
