I carry a 60 ml container of hand sanitiser to cleanse my hands before eating. The material is an isomer of alcohol, with a gel, and is the same as used in hospitals. The container is small. If you get a minor skin infection, a dab of the sanitiser clears it up.
The version of Purell with aloe vera is my choice.
I carry a small bottle of scotch. It's 40% alcohol. If I get a minor skin infection, I can pour some on it.
My preferred method, however, is to drink some and hope it heals me from the inside.
Thank you, Frank II, for my early morning chuckle.
I carry a tiny bottle but hate it. I mightnuse after a loo stop if no choice, but don't like it before meals as there is usually a build up of dust, grime or sediment on our hads which then just becomes cakey and gritty feeling. That finds its way into sandwiches or any hand carried food to mouth. I prefer wipes, but usually take a wet bandana or cloth in a ziplock.
Frank ll 😀
I use Purell with regret. Reminds me too much of work and I'm supposed to be on vacation.

Johnnie Walker Red Label!

I like Frank's method! When I can't use soap and water, I use hand wipes instead of liquid sanitizer. Since I rarely get sick, I assume that works for me!
The bubbles from soap and water do a better job at cleansing.
Hand sanitizer is popular because it is much more portable and convenient than soap and water.
But soap beats sanitizer every time.
I only had Purel taken away one time at airport security because of it's alcohol content. I had the whole trip ahead of me and was so mad.

This!
Single malt Whisky for me and WetOnes which clean off the grime and disinfect if water and soap are not at hand.
The WetOnes do not count as a liquid in my bag and they can also be used on everything from a tray table to a TV remote to a toilet or even to get stains out of clothing.
Thanks for the tip Frank. I'll start stealing them from the carts on the plane over.
So much good advise on this forum!
Its also good for dealing with sticky gelato fingers!

Scotch? Wait....Scotch flavored Gelato. Maybe but I think Aperol Gelato would be better,

This is a great idea, wet one cloths don't count!!

Even better!
Thanks for the giggle. I use wipes called one step, easy packaged one in a pack.
I've started using alcohol swabs -- small, individually wrapped wipes such as the kind used to wipe your skin before getting a shot. I bought a box with hundreds from a warehouse store (Sam's Club). I use them to wipe down the arm rest, tray table, etc. on the plane and wipe down common surfaces at the hotel. In a pinch they'd work like a hand sanitizer to clean your hands. The individual packaging makes them very convenient to carry.
Wet Ones and the alcohol swabs are great ideas. I ran out of hand sanitizer in Girona and had to buy a small container at a pharmacy - for a whopping 5 Euros! The tourist office in Girona had the filthiest bathroom that I saw in Spain - maybe they get kickbacks from the pharmacy. Anyway, the sanitizer was very nice and I keep refilling the bottle, with the 5 Euro price sticker, to remind me of an otherwise damn near perfect trip.
Santizer, with a "z", not an "s".
Sorry, I'm a former copy editor.
EDIT: Frank, I'm laughing at my own carelessness. I should have restrained myself from commenting in the first place.

Hmm....you may want to check your spelling. :)
The OP is from Australia and the popular spelling is with an "s."
I like Frank II's Scotch (or Aperol) idea but I usually just use soap and water. In school, we tried to teach our little ones to sing "Happy Birthday" twice and then they could be done with washing. Takes too much time for me but I still do my best.
Just wipe your hands off on the companion animal of your row-mate. They like the attention.
