Great lightweight midi dress w/pockets that covers shoulders

I bought this dress last summer and it quickly became a favorite. I just bought another for an upcoming trip to the Mediterranean. I run hot, and need lightweight fabrics that don’t cling, but I don’t want to wear a tent. This is perfect. Covers shoulders and knees, has pockets, isn’t see thru, can be worn with tennis shoes or dressed up. For those of you who pack super light, it weighs 9.5 oz. Pretty good for a whole outfit, I think.

EDIT: I hand washed it and it dried perfectly in about 10 hours. I forgot to turn the pockets out, or they would have dried sooner. When I put it on the hanger, I pulled the bottom a little to smooth it out a bit and it dried with no wrinkles and no shrinking. The pattern is great for hiding wrinkles anyway.

I really like this dress. I've never thought of shopping at Walmart for dresses, but I think I'll have to try this one on.

And those patterns would also hide stains

Some of my favorite lightweight travel clothes are from Old Navy and Walmart. I like cotton or linen, not synthetics, which are often used in travel clothes. I can’t wear wool.

I have the blue floral patterned dress (sold out), and the pattern hides wrinkles, too. I hand washed it earlier today to see how long it will take to hang dry. I’ll you know how it goes.

Cute dress but it says 100% rayon which I usually have shrink on me, so please let us know what it looks like after hand washing and air dry. Thanks for sharing!

Boy am I late to the party! Thanks to the spam today I saw your post, travel4fun. Walmart almost OOS but I signed up for notifications and ordered two remaining colors in small with my fingers crossed-seed it truly runs large.

I thought I would tag on to this post about another great summer dress I found. This one is sleeveless, but it hits at just the right spot so it does not show bra straps. I ended up buying three of these! Navy, red, and black/white checkered. I am short, 5'1", and it hits me mid knee. It has pockets too, which is always a huge bonus. I found it ran a touch tight in the chest for the small, so I got the medium so it would be very loose. This is linen, but it doesn't wrinkle horribly and I can wear it all day and still have it look great. I have been wearing these on any sunny day as they are just so incredibly comfy. I wash them in cold water and hang to dry, and they dry overnight.

I just ordered this other one as well which is the same design, but in cotton gauze. I bought the pink one.

The color and pattern look nice. Are the pockets functional enough to store anything small and important? ... I have an aunt who converted to orthodox Judaism. The religion restricts her to only wearing ankle length skirts or dresses. I don't have a clear judgment on whether women look better with a dress, skirt and top, or pants and a top. Yes some pants, like ripped jeans, look terrible. Some pants look fine on a woman. I supposed most women typically dress to impress other women. Are you allowed to wear hiking pants? Do they make women's versions of hiking pants that have zippered pockets? That's just my 2 cents as a man. You don't have to take my observations or questions too seriously.

Mike, the dress shown here is midi length, not maxi, so it wouldn't be coming all the way down to the ankles. Probably about calf level. And as far as whether women look better with a dress, skirt and top, or pants and a top, that really depends on the woman. And it depends on the dress. I look good in some dresses, but in this dress, I can definitely tell you I would not look good. But that's me—everyone is different.

And I'm not sure why you would say that women typically dress to impress other women. Do you dress to impress other men? I don't dress to impress anyone, and I usually do not wear dresses. I'm wearing a dress to my nephew's wedding because he asked that the guests dress up, so I'm doing my best to comply. I'm wearing something that I think makes me look good, but if others don't like it, that's not my problem. 😊

And when you ask if women are allowed to wear hiking pants, are you talking about ALL women, or just those who are Orthodox Jews? I'm not really sure what you're getting at here, because there are hundreds of thousands or maybe even millions of female hikers all over the world, and of course they wear hiking pants. Obviously your aunt's religion will dictate what she is wearing, but that generally does not apply to most of the women in the world.

Haha, Mardee, you go girl. Totally agree. However, I do admit, when I go back to IA for a high school reunion & talk to those girlfriends we DO discuss what we are going to wear that night for whatever the event is. When you are a teen or young adult I think you tend to wear what the rest of the 'herd' is wearing.

Laurie Beth, I agree with that. My 12-year-old granddaughter is fully aware of what everyone is wearing, and she wants to look just like them, but then again, my 16-year-old grandson is the same way. 😂

Ha ha, I do the same thing and talk with my friends about what we are wearing to events, but I think that's just making sure your clothing is appropriate. After all, if everybody else is wearing a casual sweater and pants, and you show up in an evening gown, you're going to look pretty out of place. 😊
