Great cotton travel dress

I bought this dress for my upcoming summer trip to Italy: https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=819547002&cid=15292&pcid=15292&vid=1#pdp-page-content

I hand washed it last night and it dried overnight. It has a crinkle texture, so no need to iron it. It’s 100% cotton, has pockets and covers the knees. It’s a little sheer, so I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing the white without a slip, but I got the blue. The sizing is generous, and I sized down for the best fit for me. I usually wear an XL and bought the L. It weighs 10.8 oz for those light packers who weigh their clothes. I don’t think that’s too bad for a full outfit that can be worn anyhere: beach coverup, sightseeing in sneakers, or dressed up for dinner. It’s so comfy I might even wear it on the plane.

I’ve purchased several dresses in similar fabric from the Gap in the past few years and they are my favorites for summer. One was a lifesaver in Costa Rica where I thought I’d melt from the humidity! The fabric is just wonderfully light and airy. I’ll probably get another color for my next trip - Egypt in 2024.

Thank you for sharing ideas for cotton dresses! I love wearing lightweight cotton dresses when I travel, and they are sometimes hard to find, especially one that covers my knees but still looks stylish.

I brought an extra cotton dress to Spain one year and ended up wearing it more than anything else.

travel4fun - my husband and I are planning to travel to Egypt in 2024 also. If you don't mind sharing, would you let me know your more specific plans? We're in the phase of comparing tour companies, dates, etc. And thanks for the dress suggestion! It looks perfect. Edited to add that I just ordered it in black.

Kerway723, I’ve read good things about Djed Egypt as a tour provider. We don’t have anything locked in yet. We’re hoping for a mini family reunion trip, taking a private Dahabiya cruise of 3-4 nights. We’ll start in Cairo for a few days, continue to Luxor for a few days, cruise to Aswan, then maybe spend some time on the Red Sea in Hurghada or add on some time in Greece. Tentatively Dec 2024, working around our kids’ college schedule. https://www.nile-dahabiya.com/our-boats/dahabiya-zekrayaat/

Another tour company I have in my notes is Nour el Nil.

I’d love to hear about your plans also. I always seem to be planning/dreaming about 3 trips at once (Machu Picchu is trip 3 at the moment).
