I have been searching for a little black dress (LBD) for travel that didn't have a logo or attached liner shorts, resisted wrinkles, could be sink washed and dry overnight, allowed for reasonably free movement, didn't make me look like I was out to play tennis and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I found it a Uniqlo. It's a nylon/spandex blend with two on-seam pockets, with a flattering fit. And it was only $30. It also comes in navy, white, off-white and a color Uniqlo calls red but is really more like coral. https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E474076-000/00?colorDisplayCode=14&sizeDisplayCode=003 I just machine washed it and hung it to dry. It doesn't have any wrinkles.
Great find! I love their products. I bought several tops in Paris a few years ago and later ordered more. I’ll be dropping in the store when I’m in Paris in April to check out the spring/summer stock.
I wish they had more pictures of the dress on the site. This dress sounds ideal from the way you described it, but the website pictures really do it no justice. I was going to go into the store in Madrid, but something else must have caught my attention and I forgot about it until just now. Unfortunately, there are no stores in Portugal, where my next trips are planned.
Has anyone done an online return with them and was it easy? That's one thing I like about Amazon. The return process is simple.

I haven't but their return policy looks relatively uncomplicated, although they do charge a $7 return shipping fee for exchanges and returns.
Trotter, that's a cute dress! If I wore dresses, I'd definitely be interested, but I just don't feel comfortable in them.
Luckily for me there are a few Uniqlo stores near me. I have a few of their products.
I wish that some of these dresses had sleeves, even 3/4 sleeves. I prefer sleeves to applying and re-applying sunblock 2-3 times a day while out walking. I burn very quickly. What I have had to do is wear a lightweight shirt as a type of jacket with anything sleeveless.
My quest for a lightweight summer dress continues.
I was also reluctant to buy online with Uniqlo since I had never done so before. So I went to the store so I could at least determine my size before buying online if necessary. I just got lucky that black was in stock in my size. When I checked out I asked the sales clerk about returns. She confirmed that online purchases must be returned via the mail. However, you can exchange an online purchase in the store. What I didn't ask was whether you could exchange for something completely different, like pants for a dress. Or if you could only exchange for a different size or a different color of the same dress.
I popped into Uniqlo this morning because I was nearby and wanted to check out that dress. I tried it on but didn’t like how it flared out at the bottom. I love that it has pockets. They carry an almost identical dress in linen or linen blend that doesn’t seem to flare in the same way because the fabric is softer. I didn’t try it on. I did buy 3 merino wool sweaters with elbow length sleeves for $14.90 each. I already had two of different colors. They are on the short side, but so am I so they hit me below the waist.
My daughter introduced me to Uniqlo when we were visiting London (she needed a item color she couldn't get in Seattle). I ended up coming out with a few merinos. I'm curious about this dress, though I do have a little one from Costco (which has worked well one one previous trip), as well as one from EB, so maybe I shouldn't allow myself to check it out when I visit Seattle this weekend.

Andrea, I got one of those too! It's 62% rayon, 33% linen and 5% nylon. It also has 2 on-seam pockets. I got it in the sage green. I machine washed it, smoothed out the facing and along the edges and hung it to dry. It is wrinkled in the linen sort of way and I think would be fine without ironing, especially on a hot humid Italian summer day. :-D
Trotter, that’s good to know about the dress. Does it flare less at the bottom? I was worried it would wrinkle too much.
Andrea, the rayon and linen blend dress does not flare at the bottom.
That’s good to know. I may have to go back and take another look. Thanks!
I LOVE that coral color! GREAT find Trotter. May I ask if anyone has an LBD with short sleeves they recommend highly?

And in an easily washable, light weight fabric? That would be a dream dress!

I picked up this one on the 32 Degrees website: https://www.32degrees.com/collections/dresses/products/womens-cool-t-shirt-dress?variant=39423953698905
I actually wear it as a nightgown, but I can also use it as a dress - I can add a belt, a cardigan, and a pair of flats (or heels to dress it up even more), or wear it with a denim jacket and some tennis shoes for a more casual look. It's super lightweight, doesn't wrinkle, and is really comfortable.
Laurie, that one looks great, but I wish they’d show it on someone who wasn’t 5’8 and size 4, Lol.
I have a black dress with short sleeves that looks almost exactly like the one Laurie is showing - same length, except it’s made of lightweight cotton. I bought it at Kohls to wear during a trip to Italy when I would be in a lot of churches. Unfortunately it was two years ago, and I always remove tags out of the neck of clothes, so I can’t give you a brand name. But, it would be a good store to check for something inexpensive and lightweight. It dries overnight, is very comfortable to wear, and pairs well with scarf accessories for evening with nicer shoes.
No access to Uniqlo stores at home for me - so I may have to see what they have in stock in Tokyo when I get there!
Laurie, nice find on the 32 degrees dress. Navy might be calling my name.
Thanks Laurie & Jean, will be checking out 32 degrees & Kohl's for some light weight dresses. I cut those tags out too and then can never remember where I got them....

If it helps, I'm 5' 0" and NOT a size 4! More like a 14-16. It looks pretty cute on me, if I do say so myself!
Trotter, I didn't mention, but I bought it in navy as well! They offer other colors at different times of the year, but I believe the black and navy ones are available most of the time.
Thanks, Laurie. I am about 5'8" (well, I used to be, Lol) but I don't think I've ever been a size 4 in my life.
